Having tasted the best of pizza from around the world, I thought it was time to try something closer to home. So, taking a drive through New Jersey I came to Trenton and decided to sample 12 different pizzerias.
Being a food critic I take my job seriously and made sure my taste buds were at their peak level before embarking on my journey. The challenge was daunting, but I was ready for it!

#1 Pizza express
The crust is perfectly cooked – crispy on the outside and light & airy on the inside. The sauce has a nice balance of sweetness, acidity, and herbal notes that make it truly unique. And, oh boy, their cheese! It’s superb – creamy, with just the right amount of saltiness that really brings out all of the flavors in each bite.
The pizzas have a good variety of classic and creative toppings that can please any palette. You can even customize your pizza with whatever you want to create your own masterpiece. Their staff is incredibly friendly and efficient – they get my order just right every time!

#2 Corleone’s Old Fashion Tomato Pie & Pizza

When I stepped into Corleone’s, I knew I was in for a treat. From the inviting atmosphere to the delicious smells of the pizzas baking in the oven, it was clear that I had made an excellent choice.
I decided to order two subsets of pizza: a traditional thin-crust pan pizza and a deep-dish Sicilian style pie. Immediately upon tasting them, I knew that Corleone’s had mastered the art of pizza making. The crusts were perfectly crisp yet still had a pleasant chewiness, and the topping combinations were so harmonious that I felt like I’d been transported to Italy!
There were plenty of other delectable items on the menu as well – calzones, garlic knots, stromboli – but frankly nothing could top the pizzas. Even their famous “Old Fashion Tomato Pie” lived up to its name; it was simply divine!

The cheese and the sauce were simply divine. The crust had a perfectly crunchy texture. The toppings were flavorful and plentiful, never skimping on portions. Every bite was an explosion of flavor that left me wanting more!
It wasn’t just the pizza I enjoyed either: the atmosphere at Mamma Flora’s Trattoria was also terrific. The staff went out of their way to make sure we felt at home, and the decor was very welcoming. Music played softly in the background to set the perfect ambiance for an enjoyable meal with family or friends.

The atmosphere of this place is delightful. From the checkered table cloths to the warm Italian music in the background, I felt relaxed and transported to Italy.
I ordered one of their specialty pies and it was out of this world. The dough was thin and light, not too doughy or too thin. The sauce had just the right amount of sweetness to it, and the cheese was melted to perfection. The toppings were fresh and flavorful, each one complemented the others perfectly.
The staff at Salerno’s Pizza III made me feel welcomed and cherished as a customer. They were all friendly, welcoming, and attentive throughout my meal – they even gave me a few extra slices for free!
Overall I had an amazing time at Salerno’s Pizza III and would highly recommend them for anyone looking for fantastic pizza in Trenton NJ!

From the moment I walked in, it was clear that Jerry’s Pizza was something special. The decor was modern and hip but still had a cozy atmosphere. I was greeted warmly by the staff and immediately knew I’d made the right decision coming here.
When my pizza arrived, I was blown away. The thin crust was perfectly crispy and chewy. It held up to whatever toppings you wanted without getting soggy, which is not easy to do! The sauce was sweet but had just a hint of acidity – perfection! And do not even get me started on the cheese – utter bliss!
I decided to order a few slices from each of the specialty pizzas on offer so I could sample them all and I must say each one lived up to its reputation! Whether it was the classic Margarita or the more exotic Pineapple Kebab, they were packed with flavor and fresh ingredients – a definite winner in my book!

As soon as I walked in, the aromas of fresh-baked pizza dough and melted cheese filled the air, making my mouth water. The staff were friendly and helpful, taking the time to explain their selection of delicious pizzas and answering any questions I had.
The pizza itself was truly outstanding. The crust was cooked perfectly golden-brown and had the perfect crunch when you bit into it. The toppings were all fresh and flavorful, with a mix of classic favorites like pepperoni and mushroom as well as some unique options like BBQ chicken. The pizza was definitely tasty enough that I’d go back for more!
I think Devito’s Pizza IV has definitely earned its reputation as one of the best pizzerias in Trenton NJ. From start to finish, they provide an excellent experience – from their friendly staff to their freshly made pizzas – that I can guarantee you won’t regret visiting!

The pizza here is out of this world. Every bite is filled with amazing flavors and textures. The crust is cooked just right, the cheese is melted perfectly and the toppings are fresh and flavorful. I’ve never had a bad slice!
The restaurant itself is also great for tourists. It’s nicely decorated and has a lively atmosphere. And if you’re looking for something to top off your meal, you’ll want to try their insanely good dessert!
The only downside of Papi’s Pizza is that they don’t offer delivery. Other than that, Papi’s Pizza is hands-down one of the best pizzas around! Highly recommended!

Everything about this restaurant screams “authentic Italian pizza joint,” from the decor to the menu. The waitstaff was friendly and knowledgeable, and even offered me recommendations when I couldn’t decide what to get.
The pizzas here are extremely flavorful and inviting, with thick crusts that have just the right amount of crunch. The toppings were plentiful and generously applied, and I especially enjoyed the spicy jalapeno peppers! Add some garlic knots or cheesey breadsticks as an appetizer, and you’ve basically got a pizza party in your mouth.
To top it all off, Special Pizza City offers more than just excellent pizza—they also offer great prices! This makes it a popular spot for families on a budget looking for good food without breaking the bank.

The crust was a perfect combination of crispy and fluffy, the sauce had a delicious tangy flavor, and the toppings were cooked to perfection. Their signature pepperoni pizza is definitely a must-try – the way they lay out their pepperonis in an artful mosaic pattern is truly divine!
The atmosphere was inviting and comfortable, with classic Italian decor. The service was topnotch as well; you can tell that this restaurant really cares about its customers. We expected our orders to take longer than usual since it was so busy, but they came out faster than expected!
Overall, I highly recommend Divine Pizza to anyone looking for great tasting pizza in Trenton NJ. It’s arguably the best pizza in town – I wish I could eat here every day!

I’ve tried pizza in Rome, Italy, the birthplace of pizza itself, and some of the best pies in Manhattan, but nothing can compare to the simply delicious pizza at DeLorenzo’s.
Their secret lies in their thick-crust dough which is made by hand every day using only the freshest ingredients. The toppings are always plentiful and full of flavor – from classic pepperoni and sausage to creative combinations all their own. Even better, there’s so much more than just pizza here – DeLorenzo’s also offers delightful appetizers like fresh mozzarella with tomato and basil as well as subs and burgers for those who haven’t hit their pizza quota for the day.

The decor gives off a cozy Italian vibe that makes customers feel right at home. The friendly staff greeted me with warm smiles as soon as I walk in. They’re knowledgeable about the menu and have great recommendations, which is always appreciated!
When it comes to the pizza, Fabio’s really stands out. You can smell the delicious aroma coming from the ovens. They offer a wide variety of traditional toppings including pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms and more – but don’t forget to try the specialty pizzas too!
I tried the ‘Fabio’s Delight’ pizza which was loaded with green peppers and onions on a lightly seasoned crust. The flavor was great – not too salty or overly cheesy, just perfect! And talk about fresh – you can tell they make each individual pizza with care.
Overall I’m very impressed with Fabio’s Pizza and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious slice of pie. It’s definitely one of the best pizzerias I’ve visited in Trenton NJ!
