#1 Highlands Alehouse
- Has some vegetarian options
- Offers dessert
- Great place to watch sports
- Serves alcohol (and hard liquor!)
My adventure began with the crust. It was the perfect combination of crunchy and chewy, almost like eating a cloud. If I were being honest, that alone would’ve been enough to make me give Highlands Alehouse five stars.
But it didn’t stop there. The sauce – a homemade blend of tomatoes and herbs – gave an extra layer of flavor that was out of this world. And the cheese? Forget about it! Flawlessly melted into the pizza, it provided just the right amount of creamy goodness. Aesthetically, this pie could’ve graced the pages of any gourmet magazine!
The toppings? Beyond delicious! Fresh vegetables, savory meats, and even some creative additions I hadn’t seen before added to an already-impressive palette of flavors. Not too heavy or greasy either – dried oregano sprinkled on top was a nice touch for texture contrast as well.
In short: Highlands Alehouse has earned my seal of approval for not just offering one of the best pizzas in Aspen, but one of the best pizzas I’ve had anywhere in my travels!

The first thing that stands out about NYPAspen is the atmosphere. It’s cozy, inviting, and makes you feel like you’re part of the family – which I definitely appreciate.
The pizzas are New York style and are cooked to perfection. The crust has a nice crispness and crunch to it, and the sauce is made from fresh tomatoes. The cheese was nicely melted and had that stringy, gooey consistency I crave in a pizza!
I tried one of their classic pies, topped with pepperoni, mushrooms, olives and bell peppers – it was delicious! There’s no doubt in my mind that NYPAspen make some of the best pizza in Aspen.

I had heard so many great things about Pastore’s that I just had to check it out. When I arrived, the first thing that caught my eye was the huge oven in the corner. It was bursting with glowing embers and smelled absolutely heavenly.
The menu selection was impressive – they have traditional Philly-style pizzas as well as some more unique toppings. I eventually decided on a sausage and mushroom pizza; it came out steaming hot and goodness, was it good! The crust was perfectly crispy yet fluffy, and the toppings were generous and flavorful.
The service here is also top-notch. Everyone from the waitstaff to the kitchen staff did an excellent job of making sure my meal experience was perfect. My water glass was never empty, my plate cleanly cleared, and my questions expertly answered.

#7 Ellina

The restaurant itself is a great spot for tourists, and the atmosphere is inviting and fun. The staff are friendly, helpful and attentive, which always adds to the experience.
The menu offers a good selection of pizza options, and there’s even a few vegetarian ones too! This was especially welcome since I’m not much of a meat eater. The crust was thin and crispy as it should be. The cheese was abundant and melted perfectly, and the tomato sauce had lots of flavor with just enough spice.
But what really impressed me was the beverage selection. Not only do they have sodas and juices, but they also serve beer AND hard liquor! How could you not love that?! Plus their house-made desserts were insanely good! No other place I’ve visited has come close to Ellina’s fantastic recipes.
The only downside I can think of is that they don’t offer delivery services. But honestly, when your food is this good, you don’t mind driving a few miles for it! All in all, Ellina has earned my highest praise – it truly does serve up some of the best pizza in Aspen!

The atmosphere is inviting, relaxed and friendly. From the moment you step into the door, you can smell the aroma of delicious pizza being made in their wood-fired oven. The warm, inviting colors make it feel like a home away from home.
The pizza itself? Absolutely amazing! The dough is light yet crisp and the toppings are fresh and flavorful. I especially enjoyed the Bianca pie – a classic combination of creamy ricotta, mozzarella and pecorino cheeses. The crust was golden brown and had just enough char to give it an added crunch. Delicious!
