I’m a bit of a pizza snob and I can be quite critical at times, but EGE Mediterranean passed my tests with flying colors. The crust was delicious – perfectly thin and chewy with just the right amount of crunch. The sauce was flavorful and not too sweet or acidic. And the cheese – oh the cheese! Incredibly gooey and stringy in all the best ways.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is also delightful; it’s cozy yet spacious, warm and inviting. All of their staff members were friendly, helpful and professional. My server knew every detail about their menu items and gave great advice on what to order (I’m certainly glad I followed it!).

If you’re looking for classic Italian flavors with a Mediterranean twist then this is your spot. Not to mention, they make all their pizzas to order so it’s always fresh when it gets to you – no reheating necessary! The atmosphere at Sciulli’s Pizza is just perfect for a night out with friends. The staff were welcoming and friendly, and the warm decor brings a cozy vibe to the restaurant.

But, let’s get to what really matters here – the pizza! Every single one of their pizzas has that classic flavor that you just can’t get anywhere else. Whether you’re hankering for a classic cheese pizza or something more experimental like a pesto and feta pizza, Sciulli’s has it all! The crust is light and fluffy yet sturdy enough to support all the toppings, while the sauce and cheese are nice and gooey.

One thing I haven’t mentioned yet that makes Sciulli’s Pizza stand out is their calzones! Everytime I’ve had them they’re always crispy on the outside and filled with delicious ingredients like pepperoni, sausage, olives, mushrooms and more!

The atmosphere of this restaurant is what really sets it apart. As soon as you walk in, there’s a feeling of warmth. The walls are painted in bright colors and the lights create a cozy environment.

The service here is top notch. The waitstaff is very friendly and efficient, ensuring that our orders were taken quickly and accurately.

But the food – oh, the food! I tried the classic Margherita pizza with freshly-made mozzarella cheese and tomato sauce and it was delicious! The crust was thin and crispy and had just the right amount of chewiness. The toppings were generous, but not overbearing – exactly how a good pizza should be.

The real star of the show, however, was their speciality “drunken” pizza with vodka sauce and fresh basil on top. It was out of this world! The flavors blended together perfectly and it was cooked to perfection – slightly charred on the bottom for that extra bit of flavor.

Overall, Mercurio’s Shadyside offers some of the best pizza in Squirrel Hill. Not only did they nail the classic favorites, but they also have some unique specialty pizzas that will keep you coming back for more!

I was immediately impressed with the cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. The decor reminded me of a classic Italian trattoria, making it all the more inviting.

The pizzas at Spak Brothers are made from scratch using only the freshest ingredients, many of which are sourced from local farmers. I had the opportunity to sample several different pies, including their signature San Marzano sauce and mozzarella. Each one was flavorful and cooked to perfection.

The homemade dough is also worth mentioning; it’s light, airy, and extremely crisp on the exterior. Plus, you can customize your pizza with an array of toppings ranging from pepperoni to artichoke hearts.

To top it off (literally), all of their pies come with a generous dusting of Parmesan cheese that melts into a delicious cheesy finish—it’s simply divine! As I took my final bite, I realized why Spak Brothers has such a loyal following here in Squirrel Hill: they make some of the best pizza around!

When I arrived at this lovely little pizza joint, I was served up a hot and delicious slice of pepperoni pizza that was out of this world. The crust was perfectly crunchy and the sauce tasted like it had been made from fresh tomatoes. The cheese was melted just right and the pepperoni added an extra layer of flavor that completed the dish.

I didn’t think it could get any better, but when I tried their speciality – a white pizza with spinach, mushrooms, garlic, and ricotta – my taste buds went wild! The flavors were so unique and delicious that I couldn’t stop eating until the whole pizza was gone.

The customer service here is top-notch as well. Everyone who works at Fazio’s Pizza is friendly and knowledgeable, always willing to answer questions or offer suggestions. They also have great deals on group orders if you’re feeding a large hungry crowd!

I’ve had some amazing pizzas on my world tour, from the wood oven-baked classics in Italy to the stone-grilled gourmet pies in France. But nothing I’ve tasted can compare to the authentic Italian pies found at Pizza Bellino.

The secret weapon of this pizza joint is their robust tomato sauce – it’s thick, flavorful and made with only fresh ingredients. The mozzarella cheese is equally fantastic – buttery and creamy, with the perfect amount of saltiness. My first impression upon entering the restaurant was that it had a very cozy and inviting vibe. The decor was simple yet comfortable, with classic Italian music playing in the background.

When it came to the pizzas, I could tell from the first bite that Aiello’s Pizza served some of the best around. The dough was perfectly cooked, with a thin crust and just the right amount of crunch at its edges. As for toppings, they managed to pull off a perfect balance of flavors while still maintaining the integrity of each ingredient.

The service at Aiello’s was also top notch! Our server was friendly and helpful, always making sure our glasses were never empty.

I’m not one to mince words when it comes to pizza, so let me tell you, this is a great spot to get your fill of cheesy, saucy goodness. The atmosphere of Milky Way made my experience even more enjoyable. It’s located in an old train depot that gives it an authentic feel. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about their pizza recipes and gave us some great recommendations on different combinations.

To top it all off, I tried one of their signature pizzas called “The Milky Way” that came with a special blend of cheese and creamy sauce — it was simply spectacular!

I’m always a bit skeptical when it comes to trying new pizza places, but I was pleasantly surprised by the high-quality pies at Black Lotus. The crust was thin, crisp and had just the right amount of charring on it. The sauce was flavorful without being too overwhelming – not to mention they used the freshest ingredients around in their toppings.

But what really sealed the deal for me was seeing how passionate the staff were about making sure their customers get the best possible experience. Everyone from the welcoming hostess to the busy cooks behind that huge pizza oven were all focused on giving each customer an amazing experience – and that’s something money can’t buy!

Don’t let the casual atmosphere fool you, Pastoli’s is serious about their pizza. From the classic toppings like pepperoni and sausage to unique, gourmet creations such as the Garlic Gouda and Prosciutto Pesto pizzas, there is something for everyone here.

The crust is light and airy with a perfect chewiness that will keep you coming back for more. The topping combinations are creative and flavorful, making them enjoyable even to us experienced pizza connoisseurs.

The pasta dishes are also delicious, with a wide variety of options, including penne alla vodka, cavatelli and broccoli, and fettuccine alfredo. My experience at Caprioni’s was like no other. I expected the usual Italian restaurant vibe: rich, red walls lined with oil paintings and religious iconography, traditional music playing in the background, and a mysterious old Italian man presiding over it all. Instead, I was greeted by bright colors, fun music, and a lively staff that made me feel welcome from the moment I stepped through the doors.

The pizza is where Caprioni’s truly shines. From the first bite of their homemade crust to the last delicious morsel of cheese that melted on my tongue, every element of their pizza was perfection. The ingredients are top-notch and carefully selected to create a mouthwatering combination of flavors in every slice. Not only were they cooked to absolute perfection – slightly charred on the bottom with just enough sauce and cheese to make it juicy but not overly greasy – but they also had an incredibly light texture that almost melted away while you ate it!

I’m convinced that Caprioni’s has some of the best pizza in Squirrel Hill. It truly is a special place where you can get amazing pizza with an amazing atmosphere to match. If you’re ever in town looking for great food, Caprioni’s is definitely worth a visit!

They even had a delicious vegetarian option with an assortment of fresh veggies and gooey cheese. It was so good, even the meat lovers at the table didn’t miss their usual toppings.

Now, onto the fun stuff—alcohol! Proper Brick Oven & Tap Room not only serves beer, but they also have a selection of hard liquor. This is a pizza place that knows how to keep the good times rolling! And let’s not forget about dessert. Their sweet creations are out of this world. I indulged in a warm and gooey Nutella pizza that had me singing its praises for days.

There is one downside to Proper Brick Oven & Tap Room, though—they don’t accept reservations. So if you’re planning on visiting during peak hours, be prepared to wait. But trust me, it’ll be worth it. Plus, while you wait, you can entertain yourself by gazing at the tourist spots surrounding the restaurant.

All in all, Proper Brick Oven & Tap Room is the place to go if you’re looking for the best wood-fired pizza in downtown Pittsburgh.
