On my visit, I had the pleasure of meeting Nonno himself, who made sure I tried all his signature pizzas. From the classic Margherita to his Truffle and Mushroom special, every slice was better than the last – I could eat pizza from here every day and never get bored!
But it’s not just about the pizza at Nonno’s Ristorante Italiano: the atmosphere is electric. The music is loud and lively, and the wait staff are always smiling and happy to make your night a great one.
Plus, they have beer on tap so you can enjoy a cold brew while you’re chowing down on their delicious pizzas. What more could you ask for?

I’d heard great things about Frank’s, so I decided to give it a try. It didn’t disappoint! The pizza slices were thick, hearty, and had just the right amount of sauce – not too much that it was overpowering, but just enough to give it that perfect flavor. The cheese was creamy and melted perfectly on top of the perfectly cooked crust.
The toppings were abundant and fresh. Every bite of the pepperoni pizza I had tasted like pure bliss! All in all, my experience at Frank’s Pizza Joint was one I certainly won’t forget anytime soon. I would highly recommend them to anyone looking for some great tasting pizza in La Mesa. They definitely set the bar for what makes a great pizza place!

The place itself is surprisingly cozy and inviting – almost like a step back in time. The staff was incredibly friendly and super attentive, which made my experience even more enjoyable.
The pizza itself? Absolutely amazing! The thin crust was cooked to perfection, with just the right amount of crunch. It was topped with fresh, flavorful ingredients that complemented each other perfectly. And the combination of their signature sauce and cheese made every bite even more delicious. I could tell they take pride in what they do here.
In short, New York New York Pizza & Pasta is one of the best pizza places I’ve been to in La Mesa – if not the best. Highly recommended!

From the moment I stepped in, I was warmly welcomed by the friendly staff. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, making it feel like home. Even more impressive was the amazing selection of pizza toppings – everything from classic pepperoni to exotic items like artichoke hearts and bay shrimp.
The pizza itself was absolutely delicious – thin and crispy on the outside with layers of gooey cheese and just the right amount of sauce inside. Every bite I had was filled with tons of flavor, leaving me thoroughly impressed!

I was initially skeptical because of the restaurant’s unassuming exterior. Little did I know, the inside was bustling with delicious smells and people happily chowing down on the best pizza around!
The service here is great. Everyone was so friendly and accommodating and they do a fantastic job of making sure customers are satisfied with their pizza. The menu boasts a variety of specialty slices but my favorite has to be the “Milo Special” – a hearty combination of pepperoni, sausage, onions, mushrooms, olives, green peppers and cheese. Yum!
The atmosphere at Milo’s Pizza is so inviting; it’s easy to forget about the outside world for an hour or two and just relax with good friends over some even better pizza. They always seem to have live music playing in the background too which really adds to the experience.

The atmosphere was inviting, and I was impressed by the quick service. The pizza dough was cooked to perfection, with the perfect amount of char on the crust.
Even more appealing was their extensive selection of toppings. From standard cheese and pepperoni to more creative combos like pineapple and jalapeno, Surf Rider Pizza Company had something for everyone. I sampled a few of my favorites (including their famous BBQ Chicken Pie) and they definitely lived up to the hype!
Of course, no pizza experience would be complete without some delicious sides. Surf Rider Pizza Company did not disappoint. Their garlic knots were out-of-this-world scrumptious – so much so that I could barely save room for dessert! Of course, I made sure to try a slice of their signature chocolate chip cookie pizza before heading home (and it was worth it!).
In short, Surf Rider Pizza Company La Mesa has earned its spot as one of my new favorite restaurants — they serve up some of the best pizza in La Mesa!
#7 D’Amatos Pizza

I’m not the kind of food critic who writes flowery or overly detailed reviews; I’m here to tell it like it is. And my experience at D’Amatos Pizza was one of the best – no exaggeration!
From the moment I walked in, I could feel something special in the air. The smells of freshly baked dough, mouth-watering spices, and just-right toppings were intoxicating!
The atmosphere at D’Amatos Pizza is inviting and laid back yet professional. The staff are friendly and helpful and they make sure you get exactly what you order.
But the real treat at D’Amatos Pizza is the pizza itself – it’s truly incredible! They use only the freshest ingredients and their unique blend of spices really bring out all the flavors. Every bite was heavenly – rich and delicious without being too heavy.
They also have an excellent selection of sides such as wings, calzones, and salads. All dishes were cooked to perfection which made me happy that I chose to dine here.
In my opinion, D’Amatos Pizza offers some of the best pizza in La Mesa – it’s a must-try for any true pizza lover!

From the moment I stepped through their doors, I knew I was in a special place. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a unique blend of Italian and American decor. The staff is knowledgeable and friendly, always ready to help you find exactly what you’re looking for.
The pizzas here are all made to order with the freshest ingredients, something that can’t be said for some of the other places I’ve been to in La Mesa. They offer a wide variety of different toppings, which can be combined in endless ways to suit even the pickiest eaters.
And what about the taste? Well let me tell you – it’s out of this world! The crust is light and crispy, yet still has that perfect chewy texture that only a wood-fired oven can provide. And they don’t skimp on the cheese or toppings either; every bite is full of flavor.
All in all, Levante Pizza is definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for the best pizza in La Mesa. Whether it’s a casual lunch or an evening out with friends, you won’t be disappointed!
#9 Mystic Grill

I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by my experience here. I usually think of La Mesa as a sleepy town with not much to offer in the way of food, but Mystic Grill is different. The moment we stepped inside, I could tell that this place takes their pizza seriously.
The atmosphere is great and the staff is friendly. They quickly seated us at a cozy booth and gave us free chips and salsa while we waited for our order to arrive.
When it finally did, I was absolutely amazed! The hand-tossed dough was cooked perfectly and was slightly chewy. In addition, the sauce and cheese were amazing – just the right amount of flavor without being too overpowering or greasy. As for the toppings, there was an abundance of pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, and onions – enough for everyone to enjoy.
To top off our meal, we had some delicious handmade gelato for dessert. It was creamy and flavorful – just like any Italian gelato should be!
Bottom line: If you’re ever looking for some fantastic pizza in La Mesa, look no further than Mystic Grill! You won’t be disappointed!
#10 Round Table Pizza

The atmosphere is cozy and inviting, the staff is friendly and accommodating, and most importantly, the pizza is delicious! The crust is cooked to perfection – just the right amount of crunch with a nice buttery flavor. The toppings are always fresh, and I’ve especially enjoyed some of their unique pies like the Cinna-Cruiser topped with cinnamon rolls.
I also appreciate how creative they’ve been with their specials – including “Lunch & Learn” where you get a free slice of pizza if you come in during lunchtime and answer a trivia question. It’s always fun trying to stump them with my food knowledge!
If I could only try one type of pizza while visiting La Mesa, it would definitely be Round Table Pizza. They have something for everyone – traditional favorites like pepperoni and cheese or unique creations that hit all the right notes. The best pizza in La Mesa indeed!

I’d heard a lot of great things about this spot and decided to check it out. Boy, am I glad I did! The pizza was amazing – the crust was perfectly crunchy and had just enough cheese, pepperoni, and veggies to make it flavorful without being overwhelming.
The best part about Farmer’s Table La Mesa is that the owner takes a traditional approach to pizza-making and puts an extra effort into every order. Starting from freshly made dough, he handcrafts each pizza with love.
On top of that, they offer some truly unique combinations that you won’t find anywhere else. From their veggie a la grecques with roasted onions and feta cheese to the classic margherita with mozzarella and parmesan — all of their pizzas are delicious!

#12 Sammy’s Woodfired Pizza & Grill

When I arrived at Sammy’s, I was immediately impressed by the warm and inviting atmosphere. There were plenty of tables in the cozy dining room and a pleasant view of the wood-fired pizza oven from every seat.
The menu gave me quite a few options to choose from, but it was easy to see why everyone was raving about their signature pies: pepperoni with mushrooms, artichoke hearts with sun-dried tomatoes, and prosciutto with arugula. The aromas wafting from the kitchen were truly tantalizing!
I settled on the pepperoni pizza (with extra cheese!) and waited for it to arrive. All around me people were digging into their slices with delight and murmuring words of praise for Sammy’s pies. When my pizza showed up moments later, it looked like something that had been fire-touched by angels!
One bite confirmed that this truly was some of the best pizza I had ever tasted—the crust was perfect, the sauce was robustly flavorful, and each topping added an amazing layer of flavor and texture that made me close my eyes in bliss. I’m definitely coming back soon for another slice (or six).
