I’m not an easy critic to please, having sampled pizza from around the world. It’s a tough job, but someone has to do it!

So I set off on my journey in search of the best pizza New Haven had to offer. I visited 12 different pizza places during my trip and am ready to share my experiences. Along the way there were some pleasant surprises, many laughs, and of course lots of delicious pizza.

#1 Zeneli Pizzeria e cucina Napoletana

This restaurant has a lovely ambience that makes me feel immediately at home. Coupled with the fact that they serve alcohol, you know you’re in for an enjoyable evening out.

If vegetarian options are important to you, Zeneli Pizzeria e cucina Napoletana doesn’t disappoint. They offer a range of delicious veggie dishes. And even better, after your meal you can indulge in some well-deserved dessert.

The only downside of this spot is that they don’t do delivery – so if it’s too cold or raining outside, you’ll need to brave the elements!

All in all, I’d highly recommend Zeneli Pizzeria e cucina Napoletana if you’re looking for the best pizza in New Haven Conn.

#2 Pasta Eataliana Trattoria Napoletana

The food here is consistently amazing. The pizza crust is thin and crispy and loaded with flavor from the fresh ingredients used. Toppings are creative, but still traditional enough to please any pizza lover. I had a calzone that was out of this world!

The staff is friendly and welcoming, adding to the cozy atmosphere at Pasta Eataliana Trattoria Napoletana. The decor is also inviting and reminiscent of a traditional Italian trattoria.

#3 Modern Apizza

The ambience of this place was perfect for the food critic in me. Not only does it serve alcohol (which I think is a must for all great pizzerias), but it also offers some vegetarian options and dessert, making it a great tourist spot as well.

Though the pizza was delicious, I found that one downside to this restaurant is that you can’t get delivery. But if you’re willing to put in the extra effort, then Modern Apizza has some of the best pies in town!

From the thin crust to the freshly-made sauce and hand-picked toppings, they have mastered their craft. Whether you’re looking for something light or stacked up with all the fixings, Modern Apizza should be your next stop on any New Haven pizza excursion!

#4 One 6 Three

First of all, the atmosphere is amazing. The decor is classic yet modern, and the music adds to the ambiance.

The service is wonderful too – the waitstaff are always friendly and attentive. They really take care of their customers here!

But what really sets One 6 Three apart from other pizza restaurants is their incredible food. The pizzas are made with fresh, flavorful ingredients that make you want to keep eating more and more. The crust has just the right amount of crunch, and the toppings are perfectly balanced. You can definitely taste why this place has been recognized as having some of the best pizza in New Haven Conn!

My absolute favorite thing about One 6 Three is that they never seem to run out of creative options for toppings on their pizzas. From vegan-friendly favorites to gourmet delights topped with wild boar meat, there’s something for everyone here!

#5 Zuppardi’s Apizza

The dough is perfectly crispy and chewy. The cheese is always plentiful and the sauce is delicious and just the right amount of spicy. There’s something for everyone here – they have some great vegetarian options, so even my herbivorous friends can enjoy the pizza!

I also appreciate that they offer alcohol, so I can enjoy a cold beer or glass of wine with my meal. They also have a variety of desserts, which is a nice touch – especially after a hearty slice of pizza.

My only complaint is that they don’t offer delivery service (wouldn’t it be great if you could get these delicious pizzas delivered to your door?!). However, Zuppardi’s Apizza still makes for an excellent tourist spot – the atmosphere is inviting and cozy, making for an overall positive dining experience.

#6 Family Mediterranean Pizza

I found the atmosphere quite inviting and the staff friendly, which is always a plus when it comes to eating out. The menu was extensive enough to please any palate, with a variety of Mediterranean-inspired pizzas. My personal favorite was the traditional Greek pie, with feta cheese, olives, and fresh tomatoes.

The pizza was cooked to perfection – not too oily, but not dry either. The crust was light and flaky, with just the right amount of crunch when bitten into. I also really enjoyed their homemade tomato sauce – very flavorful!

Overall, Family Mediterranean Pizza is definitely worth a visit for anyone looking for great pizza in New Haven Conn. They truly are some of the best around!

#7 RAWA Mediterranean Fusion, Middle Eastern Food, Pizza Place

It’s a unique blend of traditional Italian flavors and Middle Eastern spices that make for a fantastic combination. The crust is perfectly thin and crisp but still thick enough to handle all the toppings. And let me tell you, they really know their toppings here! You can choose from their delicious selection of traditional Mediterranean ingredients or go for something more exotic like Merguez sausage or roasted eggplant. You can even get creative by making your own unique pizza!

The service here has always been friendly and helpful, and the atmosphere is cozy without being too crowded. There’s plenty of seating indoors if you want to dine in, or you can get your order packed up to go. They even offer delivery within a certain radius of the restaurant, so if you don’t feel like leaving the comfort of your home you don’t have to!

If I had to sum up RAWA Mediterranean Fusion, Middle Eastern Food, Pizza Place in one sentence it would be this: The best pizza in New Haven Conn!

#8 Ernie’s Pizzeria

From the moment I stepped into Ernie’s, I knew I was in for a treat. The atmosphere was cozy and inviting, with checkered tablecloths and old-fashioned decor. And the smells coming from the kitchen were enough to make my mouth water!

When it came time to order, I went with the classic pepperoni pizza. When it arrived at my table, I knew why this place was so beloved. The crust had a great crunch and flavor, while the sauce was tangy and flavorful. And don’t get me started on the cheese — it was gooey and delicious!

I also have to mention that the customer service here is top notch. The servers were friendly and accommodating, and they seemed genuinely happy to be helping you out. My waitress even asked me how my pizza was halfway through my meal!

All in all, Ernie’s Pizzeria is hands down one of the best pizzerias in New Haven Conn. If you’re looking for an amazing meal at a great price, this is definitely your spot. Highly recommended!

#9 Grand Apizza New Haven

When I first arrived, I was greeted warmly by the staff and escorted to my table. The atmosphere had a cozy feel to it, with candles flickering and soft music in the background – perfect for any pizza aficionado!

The menu was impressive, offering classic pizzas like pepperoni and Margherita as well as specialty pies like their signature white clam pizza with garlic and herbs. Not to mention the wide selection of craft beers on tap.

To start my meal off, I ordered some fresh bruschetta which didn’t disappoint. The bread was crunchy yet chewy with just the right amount of tomato and basil. It was a great way to whet my appetite for what was to come next.

Then came the main event: the pizza! I opted for a classic pepperoni pie which arrived piping hot and covered in ooey-gooey cheese. The crust was thin yet crisp – just the way I like it – and it held up well against all the toppings without getting soggy. The sauce had just the right amount of spiciness to cut through the richness of the cheese making each bite an absolute delight.

I must say that Grand Apizza New Haven delivers one of the best pizzas around. If you’re ever in New Haven Conn looking for a good slice, this is your place!

#10 Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana

When I first arrived at the restaurant I was met with a friendly and knowledgeable staff that were willing to answer any questions I had. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, providing the perfect setting for enjoying a delicious pizza.

As far as the pizza goes, it’s tough to beat! The crust is crispy and thin, the cheese is creamy, and the sauce is perfectly seasoned with just the right hint of sweetness. Plus they offer a wide variety of toppings so you can create your own unique combination every time.

I will definitely be back soon because Frank Pepe Pizzeria Napoletana offers some of the best pizza in New Haven Conn that I’ve ever had!

#11 Town Pizza

I’ve had the chance to try numerous different pizzas, both inside and outside of Connecticut, but Town Pizza surpasses them all. The crust was perfectly baked with just the right amount of charring on the edges. The sauce was rich and flavorful – not too sweet, not too salty. And the cheese was fresh and gooey.

Not only did I find the pizza outstanding, but the atmosphere at Town Pizza made me feel like I was part of the family. The staff were friendly and accommodating, while still maintaining a casual vibe. All in all, Town Pizza is an experience that everyone should have at least once!

#12 Clemente’s Pizza & Grill

The crust is just the right combination of chewy and crispy. The sauce has a great balance of sweetness and acidity. And the toppings are always fresh and flavorful! I’ve been back to Clemente’s multiple times over the years, and each time I’m consistently impressed with their pizza.

Another great thing about Clemente’s is that they don’t skimp on portions! Their large pizzas truly are large enough to feed a family of 4 or more, so you get great value for your money.

The atmosphere inside Clemente’s is also nice – open and inviting, with lots of comfortable seating so you can hang out awhile enjoying your meal. The staff is always friendly too – greeting you with a smile each time you come in!
