#2 Pizzeria Don Luca

The restaurant itself is nothing to write home about, but that matters very little with pizza. It’s nothing fancy, but it gets the job done.
My favorite thing about Pizzeria Don Luca is the crust. The dough is freshly made each day and baked perfectly so it’s crunchy on the outside and soft inside. The sauce is always tangy and flavorful, with loads of grated cheese melted on top—you can definitely tell it’s homemade!
The toppings are all freshly cut vegetables, so they have a nice flavor that really elevates the pizza experience. I like to get my pies extra loaded up with pepperoni, mushrooms, peppers and onions; everything always tastes fresh and delicious.
I have yet to find a better pizza in Wilmington NC and highly recommend this place if you’re looking for a great pie. It might not look like much from the outside, but Pizzeria Don Luca makes some of the best pizzas around!
#3 Pie’s On Pizzeria & Grill

I’m a huge fan of the classic margherita pizza and I was delighted with how flavorful and simple it was here. The crust was crispy on the outside yet light, chewy and delicious inside. The cheese was bubbly and just melted in my mouth. It was definitely one of the best margheritas I’ve ever had!
My next favorite pizza is their white clam pie, which is loaded with delicious clams cooked to perfection, plus garlic and thyme for an extra kick of flavor. Again, the crust held up nicely, providing a great crunchy base for this unique pizza. This is definitely something that needs to be tasted to be believed!
The restaurant itself is cozy and cheerful, with friendly staff who are happy to answer any questions or recommendations you might have. Plus, they have a great selection of craft beers if you’re looking to wash down your pizza!

#6 Agostino’s Pizza & Pasta
- Has some vegetarian options
- Nice tourist spot

I’ve had some pretty amazing pizza from all over, but none quite like the pies here. The crust is perfectly crunchy, the sauce is flavorful and bright, and the toppings are fresh and plentiful. I don’t even know where to start when it comes to describing my favorite pizza combinations.
The house special margherita – fresh mozzarella, tomato sauce, basil, and olive oil – is absolutely divine! I also love their classic pepperoni pie with a double helping of melted cheese on top. But that’s not all – Agostino’s also offers a variety of specialty pizzas like the Sicilian pie with prosciutto & figs, or the calzone stuffed with ricotta & sausage!
No matter what your pizza craving may be, I’m certain that Agostino’s has something for everyone. Plus they have an excellent selection of appetizers and desserts too. Definitely worth a visit if you’re looking for the best pizza in Wilmington NC!
#7 I Love NY Pizza
- Has some vegetarian options
- Nice tourist spot
The atmosphere is inviting and cozy, and the staff are welcoming and friendly. But the big draw of I Love NY Pizza is, of course, the pizza. The thin crust is crisp but still flexible enough to hold the toppings without turning into a soggy mess. The tomatoes in the sauce were sweet and juicy, yet still well-seasoned with oregano, basil, garlic and olive oil.
My favorite topping at I Love NY Pizza was their sausage – it’s homemade using a secret recipe that’s been passed down for generations! My other favorite topping was their pepperoni, which had just the right amount of spice.
Although I love almost everything about this place, my only complaint would be that you can’t get carryout orders here – so I guess it’s back to packing up my suitcase whenever I’m in Wilmington NC looking for great pizza!
All in all though, I Love NY Pizza lived up to its name – it truly is some of the best pizza in Wilmington NC!

The atmosphere is classic Italian style, with soft lighting, brick ovens, and inviting smiling faces. The staff were attentive to all my needs and very helpful in helping me decide what pie I should try.
I tried the house favorite ‘Margherita’ – it was absolutely delicious! It had just the right amount of cheese and a perfect balance between sweet tomatoes and fragrant basil which was fresh from the garden. The crust was thin and crispy yet still pliable enough to soak up all that delicious sauce without becoming soggy.
The gelato here was also absolutely divine! They offer a wide selection of flavors including chocolate, stracciatella, hazelnut, nocciola, pistachio and more – so everyone can find something they love. Even I have to admit I found it hard to choose just one flavor!

#9 Wheelz Pizza of Midtown
The decor of the restaurant is a bit dated, but the pizza they serve more than makes up for it. The crust was perfectly cooked and flavorful, with just the right crunch. I especially enjoyed the classic pepperoni-mushroom combination, but their own special Wheelz flavor really blew me away. The sauce was rich and robust, with a hint of oregano that elevated the flavors above your typical pizzeria fare.
I also had some of their garlic bread which came served in a nice basket. Talk about fresh! It was hot out of the oven, slathered in butter and sprinkled with Parmesan cheese – talk about delicious! I could have made a meal out of that alone.
All in all, Wheelz Pizza of Midtown has some of the best pizza in Wilmington NC! If you’re ever looking for an amazing slice (or two!), this is definitely worth checking out.

Best Deep Dish Pizza – Benny’s Big Time Pizzeria
- Nice tourist spot
- Has insanely good dessert
- Serves alcohol (and hard liquor!)
- Has some vegetarian options
Upon entering Benny’s, the first thing that caught my eye was the size of the pizzas. These things were bigger than my ego! And believe me, that’s saying something. As soon as I took my first bite, I was transported to a land of cheesy bliss. It was like biting into a cloud made of mozzarella, mixed with the tears of angels who had finally tasted true perfection.
The crust was thick and doughy, just the way deep dish pizza should be. It was like a fluffy hug from a doughy Italian grandmother. And the toppings? Don’t even get me started. Benny’s is not afraid to pile on the good stuff. I had a pizza with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, onions, and enough cheese to feed a small village. It was a flavor explosion in my mouth, like a fireworks show conducted by a master chef.
The atmosphere in Benny’s was lively and fun, with pizza-inspired decorations plastered all over the walls. They even had a statue of a giant pizza slice in the corner, which I’m pretty sure winked at me as I walked by. The staff were friendly and accommodating, and they didn’t even bat an eye when I asked for a second pizza. They must have sensed my overwhelming hunger for more deep dish goodness.
In conclusion, Benny’s Big Time Pizzeria is a must-visit for any pizza lover in Wilmington, NC. They serve up the best deep dish pizza in town, and maybe even the world. So what are you waiting for? Grab your stretchy pants and head on over to Benny’s. Your taste buds will thank you. And your waistline? Well, that’s a problem for another day.
