#1 Cugino Forno Durham

- Offers dessert
The atmosphere is inviting and the staff are friendly. It’s clear that they really care about their customers. The pizza here is made with great skill and attention to detail, resulting in fantastic flavor.
I love the fact that they offer a variety of options, both classic and creative. You can get a simple margherita or opt for something more experimental with toppings like artichokes, olives, and jalapenos. Each time I’ve visited, I’ve been impressed by how perfectly cooked the crust was – crispy on the outside but airy inside. The cheese melts just right too!
I’d also like to mention their delicious dessert pizzas which I think are underrated! The Nutella pizza is a must-try – it’s sweet but not too heavy on the palate. To top it all off, all the ingredients used at Cugino Forno Durham are fresh and high quality so you know you’re getting your money’s worth!

#2 Vicino’s Pizza
- No delivery
The atmosphere is so inviting, you can’t help but relax and enjoy every bite. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, which makes it a great place to take a break from my hectic travel schedule.
The pizza itself is simply unbeatable. It’s made with the freshest ingredients and cooked in their brick oven to perfection. Every single bite of the silky dough and flavorful sauce will have you coming back for more. I’d recommend trying their margherita pizza if you’re looking for something classic, or their pepperoni pizza if you want something a bit bolder.
My only complaint is that they don’t offer delivery service, so I had to come here in person. But it was definitely worth the effort! Vicino’s Pizza has some of the best pizza in all of The Triangle, so don’t miss out!
#3 Hutchins Garage

My first visit to Hutchins Garage was a delightful surprise. The atmosphere is welcoming, with an industrial edge that made for a unique dining experience.
I started my meal with the house salad, which was full of fresh ingredients and had a delicious balsamic vinaigrette dressing. Then came the pizza. I opted for the four-cheese blend, and let’s just say I cleaned my plate! The flavors combined perfectly and each bite was simply divine.
The quality of the ingredients used in their pizzas is exceptional; Hutchins Garage certainly knows how to make an extraordinary pie! I also sampled some of their speciality dishes, including Italian sausage and red peppers – which were both cooked to perfection – as well as scrumptious garlic knots.

#4 Oakwood Pizza Box
- Offers dessert
- Serves alcohol (and hard liquor!)
- Nice tourist spot
- Has some vegetarian options
As soon as I walked in, the sweet smell of freshly-baked dough and melted cheese wafted through the air. I immediately knew that I had found a winner. The owners, Stan and Karen, greeted me with kind words and a smile that let me know that they take great pride in their restaurant.
The menu was extensive, varied and full of fresh ingredients all sourced from local farmers in the area. The menu featured delectable pizzas such as: the classic pepperoni pizza, Hawaiian pizza with pineapple on top, and the Oakwood special – a white garlic cream sauce topped with ricotta cheese and spinach.
The crust was perfectly thin yet crunchy; not an easy feat! It was also cooked to perfection – not too burnt or raw – just right! The sauces were flavorful and full of spices that complemented each other perfectly. Every ingredient tasted like it had been picked (or made) just minutes before being placed on the pizza.
The stars of the show were definitely the toppings though! From succulent Italian sausage to premium quality cheeses, every topping added something unique yet complimentary to its accompanying neighbor.
I have tasted many pizzas all over the world but none compare to Oakwood Pizza Box’s creations! I recommend anyone who is looking for THE best pizza in The Triangle pay them a visit!
#5 Pizzeria Toro

- Has some vegetarian options
- Serves alcohol (and hard liquor!)
The first thing that struck me was the atmosphere – it’s cozy, casual and inviting. The staff are super friendly and welcoming, and always willing to answer any questions you might have about their food.
The pizza itself is incredible. Whether you like light and airy or extra-thick crusts, Pizzeria Toro has something for everyone. I’m a fan of the margherita pizza – there’s just something about the combination of fresh tomatoes, mozzarella cheese and basil that takes my taste buds on a wild ride! The flavor combinations they offer up will knock your socks off.
And while we’re talking toppings – Pizzeria Toro knows what they’re doing when it comes to topping their pizzas! From classic favorites like pepperoni and mushrooms to more inspired topping choices like roasted garlic cloves, Prosciutto crudo, or even Grana Padano cheese – each bite is a party in your mouth.
I think the best thing about Pizzeria Toro though is the price – considering the quality of ingredients used and flavour on offer, it’s clear that you can get way more bang for your buck here than almost anywhere else in The Triangle!

#6 Randy’s Pizza

- Nice tourist spot
- Has a kid’s menu
- Has some vegetarian options
- Offers dessert
I have to admit, I was skeptical at first. A pizza joint located in a small North Carolina town–how good could it be? But I was surprised. From the moment I stepped in the door, it felt like I’d been transported to a pizzeria in Italy. The decor is unique and charming, with brick walls and vintage photos hanging around.
The pizza is just as amazing as the atmosphere. Their crust is thin and perfectly crisp, while still maintaining a doughy flavor. The toppings are fresh and flavorful, with a great variety of options available to choose from. They also offer creative specialty pies that really stand out compared to your typical pizzerias.
All in all, Randy’s Pizza is one of the best pizza places I’ve ever visited! If you’re ever passing through The Triangle region, you should definitely stop by for some of the best pizza you’ll ever taste!

The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the amazing atmosphere. The restaurant had a warm, inviting vibe that made me feel like I was right at home.

The standout dish from my experience at Sofia’s Pizza has to be their garlic knots. The knots were so garlicky and buttery – they melted in my mouth! Needless to say, I went back for seconds (or thirds!).
Overall, if you’re looking for the best pizza in The Triangle, Sofia’s Pizza is absolutely your go-to spot! Their food is delicious and their atmosphere is delightful – not mention affordable too! Highly recommended.
#8 Pie Pushers

- Nice tourist spot
I was immediately taken with the house-made dough and their rotating selection of locally sourced, fresh ingredients. The sauces used are top-notch, and they have a wide selection of toppings to choose from—making it easy to create a truly unique pizza experience.
Their signature pies like “The Three Amigos” (it’s got chorizo, jalapenos, and cilantro) are especially delicious. However, if you don’t want to get too wild with your order, there’s still something for you here: Pie Pushers’ Margherita pie is simply sublime!
In addition to the great pizza, I must give special mention to the extraordinary atmosphere at Pie Pushers. It’s the perfect fusion of pizzeria meets dive bar. The staff make it feel more like “hanging out with friends” than picking up food from a restaurant. It really adds to the overall comfort-food vibe they provide.
I can safely say that Pie Pushers has earned its place among the best pizza places in The Triangle! Whether you’re looking for an adventurous or classic pizza experience—Pie Pushers delivers!

The atmosphere of the restaurant is great. From the moment you walk in, you get a warm and inviting feeling. The staff was friendly and helpful, and they really made us feel welcomed.
The pizza menu offers some really unique options that are sure to please everyone. We ordered two different pies – one with tomato sauce and pepperoni, and the other with pesto and chicken.
