The pizza itself was a masterpiece. The crust was crunchy but had just the right amount of softness to make it perfect. The toppings were all fresh, flavorful, and abundant! I liked how they offered lots of different topping choices and combinations so there’s something for everyone. The sauce was nicely balanced between sweet and savory – not too tangy or tart like some other pizzas I’ve tried.

#5 Mama Sid’s Pizza

- Nice tourist spot
- Has some vegetarian options
When I arrived at Mama Sid’s, the first thing that struck me was the delicious smell of pizza dough rising in the oven. The staff was also very friendly and welcoming, which only added to my anticipation of tasting their pies.
The first pizzas I tried were the pepperoni and classic pepperoni pizzas. Both were cooked to perfection – the crust was crispy and golden with a great cheese-to-sauce ratio. This might be common in many other pizza places but it certainly isn’t something you see often these days!
I also tried their signature creation: a deep-dish pizza with an extra layer of cheese, olives, jalapenos, and sausage all around it. It was some of the best pizza I’ve ever had! The toppings were fresh and flavorful and there were just enough flavors going on to make each bite interesting.
And if that wasn’t enough, Mama Sid’s makes all of its own sauces too so you know they’re always fresh. The garlic sauce is especially tasty — not too garlicky, but still full of flavor.
All in all, Mama Sid’s is definitely worth a visit if you’re in Athens looking for some of the best pizza around!
#6 Little Italy Pizzeria
- Nice tourist spot
- Has some vegetarian options
- Serves alcohol
This place serves up classic Italian-style pizza with a unique twist – they only use the freshest, locally-sourced ingredients. From the moment I stepped in, I knew this place was special. The aroma of melted cheese and herbs wafted through the air, and I was instantly drawn to it.
The pizzas are cooked to perfection in their wood-fired ovens that create a nice char and smoky flavor on the crust. Topping offerings include fresh mozzarella, roasted tomatoes, mushrooms, pepperoni and more – all with the perfect amount of seasoning to enhance the flavor of each individual ingredient.
And let’s not forget about their signature sauces! Their house-made red sauce is truly amazing – slightly sweet with a hint of spice that adds an extra layer of complexity to each bite. And their olive oil-based white sauce is equally delicious (but lighter than traditional tomato sauce). Both are excellent vehicle for all their toppings!
Overall, Little Italy Pizzeria gives you an authentic taste of Italy without having to leave Athens – making it hands down the best pizza spot in town!

I decided to try their signature dish – the Most Best Supreme – and I was not disappointed! The combination of mozzarella, pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, and peppers really brought out all of the flavors from each topping. Even better, they managed to get a nice crispy crust while still keeping it light and fluffy.
The best part though? The price! For what I got it was surprisingly affordable – definitely worth every penny.

#11 Athens pizza
- Offers dessert
- Nice tourist spot
- Has some vegetarian options
I was skeptical at first, especially when I saw the cheesy Greek-style decorations and heard the tinny Greek music playing in the background. But after biting into my first slice of cheese pizza, I was sold. The crust was light and fluffy, the sauce was perfectly seasoned, and the cheese was melted just right.
Before leaving, I decided to try something a little more adventurous – a gyro pizza! It had all of the traditional Greek toppings you’d expect – lamb, tomatoes, feta cheese, and loads of oregano – stacked on top of a perfect base of dough and sauce.
Overall, Athens Pizza is the real deal and definitely worth trying out if you’re ever in Athens. They even have an extensive selection of craft beers to go with your pizzas! Now that’s what I call a complete dining experience!
