From the moment I stepped into Pontillo’s, I could tell it was a special place. The cozy atmosphere and friendly staff welcomed me as soon as I walked in, and then there was the pizza – simply amazing!
I ordered a classic pepperoni pizza with extra cheese and was not disappointed. The crust was crispy yet tender, just crunchy enough to give it some bite. The sauce was sweet and zesty like a good Italian marinara should be, while the pepperoni had a nice smoky flavor that balanced out the sweetness perfectly. And of course, their signature blend of mozzarella and provolone cheeses made this pie one of a kind.

The sauce had just enough sweetness, but wasn’t too overpowering. And the cheese! It was so unbelievably cheesy—it practically melted in my mouth!
I also had the pleasure of sampling a few different types of pies during my visit. My favorite was their signature Margherita Pizza—thin slices of prosciutto and fresh basil mixed with tomatoes and mozzarella—simply heavenly!

The sauce was flavorful and not too sweet; it was absolutely perfect. Even more impressive was the cheese – it was gooey, melted well, and had a great consistency. Finally, the pepperoni added just the right kick to finish off this delicious pie.

#12 Casa Italiana

I’ve sampled pizza from Chicago, Rome and even Naples, but Casa Italiana is on a different level. Not only do they have the best crust in town, but their recipe for the perfect sauce also impressed me. The addition of fresh herbs gave it an extra depth of flavor that really brought out the complexity of the dish.
The toppings were also top-notch. It was clear that they went to great lengths to source quality ingredients – the pepperoni slices had a rich smokiness that you rarely find outside of Italy. The quality mozzarella cheese melted perfectly and gave each bite a luxurious mouthfeel that was truly unforgettable.
