I like to think of myself as a pizza connoisseur, so what I’m about to share is no small feat; after tasting 12 pizzas across Colorado Springs, I’ve found the best!
This isn’t a serious scientific study – nothing ever is with food – but rather, a lighthearted and humorous journey around the city in search of cheesy goodness. You won’t find any dry commentary here about the crust or sauce ratios; just an honest opinion from someone who loves pizza and craves a good slice.

#1 High Rise Pizza Kitchen
- Offers dessert
- Has some vegetarian options
My first thought when stepping into the restaurant was that I had found a hidden gem in this city. The decor was modern and stylish, and the atmosphere was unrivaled. As for the pizza itself, it just hit all the right notes. The crust was cooked to perfection, the cheese and toppings were fresh and flavorful, and the sauce was the perfect blend of sweet and savory.
The service here was also top-notch. Our server greeted us with a smile and immediatly made us feel welcome; she even recommended some signature pies that weren’t on the menu! We eventually ended up ordering one for each of us to share—the Pesto Sunrise (pesto base topped with red onions, mushrooms, spinach, feta) and 4 Cheese Heaven (Mozzarella, Cheddar, Feta & Gorgonzola)—and they were both out of this world.
Overall I’d have to say that High Rise Pizza Kitchen is by far the best pizza joint in Colorado Springs. If you’re looking for a great pizza experience then look no further; you won’t be disappointed!

#4 Leon Gessi New York Pizza
- Nice tourist spot
- Has a kid’s menu
- Serves alcohol
- Offers dessert
My first impression of Leon Gessi was that it was the epitome of a no-frills New York pizzeria. Red-and-white checkered tablecloths, faded pictures of Italy on the walls, and an old-school jukebox blaring away in one corner. It felt like I had stepped right into a scene from Goodfellas!
The pizza here is really something special. There’s something magical about the crust – it’s wonderfully thin and light, but still manages to hold up to all the toppings without getting soggy. And speaking of toppings, Leon Gessi certainly knows how to put together a great combination – my favorite being their classic pepperoni and mushroom pizza! The sauce has enough zing to really bring out the flavors, but isn’t so overpowering that it distracts from the rest of the ingredients.
It wouldn’t be a proper review if I didn’t mention the customer service here as well – it was exceptional! Everyone from the delivery driver to the restaurant manager went out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed for a top notch dining experience.
All in all, if you’re looking for some of the best pizza in Colorado Springs then look no further than Leon Gessi New York Pizza!

As for the pizza—words can’t do justice to how delicious it is. Every bite had its own flavor profile, with various herbs and spices that made each slice unique. The crust was thin but not too thin, and just the right amount of crunchy. To top it off, all the ingredients were incredibly fresh!
If you’re ever in Colorado Springs and looking for some of the best pizza around, Roman Villa Pizza should definitely be your first stop. You won’t be disappointed!

The atmosphere here is great — it’s got a cool, ’50s diner feel that’s fun and inviting. All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful; they went out of their way to make sure I had a great experience.
As for the pizza, wow! I’d say Roadrunner has some of the best pizza I’ve ever tasted. The crust was just right — not too thick, not too thin. The cheese was creamy and flavorful, while the toppings were fresh and delicious. I especially loved their special parmesan-herb mix that was sprinkled on top!

#8 Colorado Springs Pies and Grinders
- Offers dessert
- Has a kid’s menu
- Serves alcohol
- Nice tourist spot
The crust was crisp, thin and golden on the outside, with just the right amount of chewiness. The sauce was sweet and tangy and contrasted perfectly against the smoky, succulent sausage pieces scattered throughout.
The toppings were varied and creative: from roasted mushrooms to barbecue chicken to artichoke hearts, no two pizzas were alike! The separate “grinder” menu also offered some interesting combinations in subs such as spicy jalapenos with crispy bacon or spicy Italian sausage on an olive-oil slathered bun.
What really surprised me about Colorado Springs Pies and Grinders was the attention to detail in their side dishes. Their garlic knots were lightly fried yet still warm and moist inside; the parmesan potatoes wedges had a crunchy golden brown outside that melted away with each bite.
Overall, I highly recommend Colorado Springs Pies and Grinders for anyone looking for fantastic pizza! Not only have they mastered classic recipes, but they constantly strive to take their pies up a notch. With excellent service and delicious food, this restaurant is sure to please even the most discerning of pizza connoisseurs.

The atmosphere is great – cozy, inviting and with a lovely view of the University Village. The staff are friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about their menu.
The pizza is simply amazing! The crust is made from freshly milled flour, crafted with care in their wood-fired oven for an unbeatable flavor. The perfect blend of ingredients create exceptionally flavorful combinations that I would recommend to anyone!
The toppings were fresh, delicious and artfully arranged on the restaurant’s signature pizzas. We opted for the “Margarita” which was topped with house-made tomato sauce, fresh mozzarella, basil and olives – it was divine!
And if you still have room for dessert, consider one of their unique Snow Cream specialty shakes – they’re creamy yet light, with a hint of Italian flavors. Heaven!

The pizza is so fresh and flavorful that I just keep coming back for more. Not to mention their Margherita pizza, which is absolutely heavenly. Plus, they have some great vegetarian options and an outstanding selection of hard liquor to go with it!
But what really sets Pizzeria Rustica apart from the rest is their dessert menu. The cannoli cheesecake alone is worth the trip. Seriously, it’s insanely good and you won’t find anything like it anywhere else.
However, if you’re looking for delivery service then this isn’t your spot. But don’t worry; despite the lack of delivery, this place still makes a great tourist spot and an even better sit-down restaurant!

The first thing that strikes you about Duca’s is the amazing atmosphere: it looks like a traditional Italian trattoria, with white-washed walls, warmth radiating from the wood-fired pizza oven and friendly staff.
The pizzas at Duca’s are simply divine. The restaurant is famous for its signature Margherita with mozzarella, tomato and basil – but they offer a variety of other options including pesto, veggie and even vegan pizzas. The crust is thin but well cooked, so it isn’t too crispy or too crunchy. And the toppings are always fresh and tasty.
I’ve been fortunate enough to have tasted pizzas all over the world, but I have to say that Dulce’s Neapolitan Pizza may just be the best pizza in Colorado Springs! If you’re ever in town, make sure you give them a try – you won’t regret it!
Best Deep Dish Pizza – Old Chicago Pizza + Taproom
- Has insanely good dessert
- Nice tourist spot
- Great place to watch sports
- Serves alcohol (and hard liquor!)
As I walked into Old Chicago, the aromas of melted cheese and crispy crusts captivated my senses. I was like a kid in a candy store, but instead of candy, it was pizza. The waitstaff, clad in colorful Chicago Bulls jerseys, welcomed me with big smiles and contagious enthusiasm. I couldn’t help but chuckle at the irony of being in Colorado Springs, yet surrounded by a Chicago sports vibe.
Taking the plunge into their deep dish pizza was like diving headfirst into a pool of cheesy delight. The crust was thick, buttery, and perfectly crispy, creating a sturdy foundation for the generous toppings. I opted for the classic Margherita, and it was a work of art. The vibrant red sauce danced with the melted mozzarella, giving each bite a harmonious marriage of flavors. I proclaimed it pizza perfection amidst a chorus of satisfied belly growls.
But it wasn’t just the pizza that tickled my fancy; Old Chicago also know how to keep thirst at bay. With an extensive selection of craft beers on tap, I found myself in a hoppy wonderland. From IPAs preaching the gospel of bitterness to creamy stouts that could double as dessert, there was a beer for every palate.
In conclusion, Old Chicago Pizza + Taproom is a deep dish paradise in the heart of Colorado Springs. If you’re craving a slice of cheesy heaven that will transport you straight to the Windy City, look no further. Just be prepared for your taste buds to do a little happy dance, and possibly your waistline as well. Bon appétit, my pizza-loving friends!
