When I first stepped into Gruppo NYC, I was impressed with the clean and well-maintained interior. The staff were friendly and welcoming and helped me to decide which of their delicious pies I should order.
The menu was vast, but I decided to try the classic margherita pizza which was absolutely outstanding. The crust was crispy, the tomato sauce perfectly seasoned and the mozzarella had that wonderful stretchy texture that you look for in quality pizza.
I also sampled a few other items such as the garlic knots, salad and some pepperoni slices which were all incredibly delicious.

#3 St-ned Pizza
- Offers dessert
The atmosphere was lively, with a laid-back charm that enticed me to come in and stay awhile. The menu had plenty of variety for everyone, including unique specialty pizzas. My favorite was the Margherita pizza with its gooey cheese and bright tomato sauce that had a hint of garlic to it.
The staff were friendly and welcoming from start to finish, and they were more than happy to customize any dish I wanted. The prices are also on the lower side compared to some other popular pizza joints in the area so you can get lots of delicious food without breaking the bank.
I’d give St-ned Pizza a four-star rating. The only thing I would change is the location – it’s a bit too far away for my tastes! But all things considered, if you’re looking for great pizza in East Village then this is certainly worth checking out!
#4 Village Square Pizza
- Nice tourist spot
I admit, I was skeptical at first as the pizza joint had all the typical New York charm; a giant rat crawling around outside the door and no air-conditioning. But I am so glad I pushed forward and gave it a try!
The pizza was to die for! The crust was perfectly cooked and not too thick, with just the right amount of crunch. The marinara sauce was bursting with flavor yet not too overpowering – just enough to make you want to take an extra slice! And let’s not forget about the cheese…such amazing flavor! It’s like they put a little bit of love in every single slice.
What made this pizza stand out from all the other pizzas I’ve tried is their toppings. They had an extensive variety, ranging from traditional pepperoni to gourmet vegetables. Not only that but they add an extra burst of flavor on top of each slice making them absolutely divine.
So if you’re looking for some of the best pizza in East Village, look no further than Village Square Pizza. You won’t regret it!
#5 Joe & Pat’s NYC
- Offers dessert
- Nice tourist spot
- Serves alcohol
My favorite thing about Joe & Pat’s NYC was the way they make their dough – it gives pizza that classic, New York-style flavor. And the tomato sauce? Out of this world! It has just a hint of sweetness that totally elevates the slice.
The toppings they use are top quality, too. Of course you can get your pepperoni and sausage like anywhere else, but if you want something unique and special, try their white pizza with broccoli or their caprese slices with tomatoes, basil and mozzarella. Unique creations like these are what makes Joe & Pat’s NYC stand out from other pizzerias in East Village.
They also have a great selection of craft beers to wash down all that deliciousness. And the service is attentive without being intrusive – my server was really friendly and helpful!
If you’re looking for some seriously yummy pizza in East Village, look no further than Joe & Pat’s NYC! They’ve definitely become one of my go-to spots when I’m craving a classic NY-style slice.
#6 Proto’s Pizza
- Has some vegetarian options
- Nice tourist spot

The crust was cooked to perfection with just the right amount of crunchiness. The sauce was sweet and flavorful and had a nice tangy finish, and the toppings were salty and savory. I was especially impressed by their unique combinations like the Roasted Butternut Squash Pizza topped with roasted garlic cream sauce, Gruyere cheese, sage, caramelized onions and pecans – yummy!
Other pies that stood out include the Prosciutto & Arugula Pizza which had just enough salt from the prosciutto perfectly balanced with the sweetness of balsamic glaze, creamy mozzarella cheese and peppery arugula.
The atmosphere at Proto’s Pizza is warm and inviting with a rustic vibe. The service was friendly and attentive, ensuring our experience was enjoyable.
In conclusion, if you’re looking for some of the best pizza in East Village – don’t miss out on Proto’s Pizza!
#7 Burrata Basil Pizza
I was skeptical at first, since most of the local restaurants here don’t appeal to my worldly refined taste buds, but boy were my suspicions wrong! The pizza dough is perfectly crafted with just the right amount of chew, and the flavors really pop. I tried all three of their signature pizzas – spicy sausage, vegetarian garden, and classic pepperoni – and each one was delicious.
The veggie pizza had so much freshness from the burrata cheese, basil and tomatoes that it felt like I was tasting Italian cuisine in a whole new way. The spicy sausage had just enough zing to make it interesting without going overboard on heat. And the classic pepperoni made me feel as if I was eating in New York City’s Little Italy.
On top of having some of the best pizza around, Burrata Basil Pizza also offers an amazing selection of beers and wines to pair with your pie. Not to mention outdoor seating so you can enjoy your meal al fresco (weather permitting of course!). It’s no wonder why this place has become a local favorite in East Village.
If there’s one thing I can say about Burrata Basil Pizza: they know how to make great pizza! When you’re feeling hungry for some good old-fashioned pie, this is definitely the spot for you!

The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the sweet aroma of fresh-baked pizza. It smelled so good, my mouth started to water! The staff were very friendly, and they got me seated right away.
The menu had a great selection, and it was hard to choose which kind of pizza to try. I finally decided on the Cheese Lover’s Delight – and it lived up to its name. The crust was perfectly crisp and golden brown, with just the right amount of cheese melted over top. I arrived at the restaurant famished, which was a good thing, because the moment I saw Double Zero’s mouth-watering pizza selection on their menu my appetite grew exponentially. The crust was perfect – golden brown and crisp on the outside, but with a nice soft interior that held up to all of the amazing toppings.

I mean, it’s no Naples or Rome, but Tony’s Pizza is definitely up there among the top contenders for the best pie in town. The crust has just the right amount of crunch, and the sauce is so flavorful you don’t even need to put any extra toppings on. The cheese is just perfect – they must use some secret recipe because I’ve never tasted anything like it before!
The service at Tony’s Pizza was also top notch. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable and made sure we always had plenty to drink while we waited for our pizza to arrive. It arrived piping hot, and smelled amazing! We were all salivating by the time it reached our table.
