I’ve tasted pizza all over the world and have now made it my mission to find the best pizza in Youngstown OH. I don’t take this task lightly – after all, I’m a critic! With much tasting and sampling, I’ve narrowed down the search to twelve of the best pizza places in Youngstown.

#1 Johanzel Pizza

It all starts with the crust. This place has perfected the art of making a perfect, crunchy, yet fluffy crust and it’s just as delicious as you’d expect.

The toppings are on-point too – each pizza is expertly curated with select ingredients and an array of flavors. I had the ‘Double Trouble’ which was two separate pies loaded with all kinds of deliciousness – pepperoni, mushrooms, peppers, and onions. The combination was incredible!

The cheese they use is especially noteworthy – it has the perfect tanginess that really brings out the flavor of the pizza. It might be controversial to say but I actually think their cheese is even better than what I tasted in Italy! Yes, it’s THAT good.

The service was also excellent – friendly staff members who were helpful and accommodating. To top it off, Johanzel Pizza offers great deals and specials that make this place an amazing value for your money!

#2 Jimmy’s Italian Specialties

The crust was nice and crunchy – just the way I like it! The sauce was perfectly balanced with a hint of garlic and herbs. The cheese was gooey and flavorful. Plus, the toppings were plentiful but not so much that it overwhelmed the pizza itself.

I also have to give Jimmy’s a shout out for their unique toppings- they really put an interesting twist on traditional pies! My personal favorite was the Mediterranean-style topping they use: olives, feta, diced tomatoes, and fresh basil!

The atmosphere of the restaurant alone is worth the visit. It’s cozy yet vibrant at the same time. There’s music playing in the background making it feel even more inviting – you get a real sense of being home when you step inside Jimmy’s!

Overall, I would highly recommend this place. It definitely lives up to its name as one of Youngstown OH’s best pizzerias! Just keep in mind though that they don’t offer delivery services so you’ll have to either dine in or pick up your order if you want to enjoy some of their delicious pies!

#3 Republic Pizzeria & Pub

I had the pleasure of trying out their signature ‘Republic’ pizza and it did not disappoint. The airy, yet crisp and chewy crust was perfectly topped with savory marinara sauce and generous portions of melted cheese. The pepperoni added just the right amount of spice.

The friendly staff at Republic Pizzeria & Pub made me feel right at home even though I was a new face in town. The atmosphere was relaxed and they even offered a few board games to pass time while my pizza was cooking!

In the end, I must say that the best pizza in Youngstown OH can be found at Republic Pizzeria & Pub. Highly recommended for anyone looking for a great slice!

I’ve been to a lot of pizza places in my time, but none have been as delicious as Nicky’s. Their thin crust is perfectly crispy and their sauce is just the right mix of sweet and tangy. They top it off with generous amounts of cheese and whatever toppings you may choose.

But the real star at Nicky’s is their signature Italian sausage! It’s made in-house and seasoned exactly the way it should be—not too spicy, not too mild, with just enough complex flavor to keep your taste buds tingling.

My favorite part about Nicky’s is the atmosphere. The entire staff is friendly and accommodating, creating a welcoming environment for everyone. Plus, there are TVs playing sports games so you don’t miss out on any action while enjoying your slice (or two or three).

#5 Cravings Pizza

First, let me tell you all about the pizza – it’s made with fresh, quality ingredients and cooked to perfection. The crust is crispy and flavorful, and the toppings are always fresh. The staff is incredibly friendly, and they get your order ready quickly. Best of all, they have dozens of different toppings to choose from so there’s something for everyone.

But the real star of the show is the sauce. It has a perfect balance of sweetness and acidity that pairs beautifully with their signature crust. I’m still dreaming about that pizza!

My only complaint is that Cravings Pizza isn’t open 24/7 because I could eat there every day! But if you’re looking for some of the best pizza in Youngstown OH, then this is definitely the place to go.

Their ingredients are fresh and carefully prepared, and you can taste the quality in every bite. My personal favorite is their classic pepperoni pizza – the perfect blend of salty and savory flavors that will leave you wanting more!

As if that wasn’t enough, their prices are very reasonable and the service was exceptional. Plus they do delivery if you want to enjoy some Uptown Pizza goodness from the comfort of your home.

#7 Wedgewood Fernando’s Pizza

I went in expecting a great pizza joint and I was not disappointed in the least. The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy, with warm lighting and comfortable seating. The staff were friendly and helpful; they even had some vegetarian options available for me.

What really set Wedgewood Fernando’s Pizza apart from other pizzerias was their creative topping combinations. From pepperoni to pineapple to anchovies, these toppings make for an incredible experience – each one better than the last!

The best part of all was that this was the first pizza joint I’ve been to that served alcoholic drinks. Not only did it make my experience more enjoyable, but it allowed me to try out some interesting flavor combos I wouldn’t have thought possible otherwise. Delicious!

Unfortunately, there is one downside to Wedgewood Fernando’s Pizza – they don’t offer delivery services. Other than that, it’s a great spot to grab a pie or two if you’re in Youngstown OH (or nearby) looking for some delicious pizza!

#8 Avalon Downtown Pizzeria

I must admit, I was a little skeptical at first. But then I tried the pizza and it quickly changed my mind. The crust is thin and crunchy, the sauce is savory and flavorful, and the toppings are always fresh and delicious.

And the atmosphere of Avalon Downtown Pizzeria is something special as well. From the cozy seating area to the friendly staff, you’re guaranteed a great experience every time you visit.

But don’t take my word for it – try it for yourself! You won’t be disappointed. Avalon Downtown Pizzeria truly has some of the best pizza in Youngstown OH!

#9 Uptown Pizza (Liberty)

First, it has the flavor. The sauce is fresh, the cheese is gooey and the toppings are generous. It’s like a little slice of heaven in every bite.

Second, the atmosphere is fantastic. The walls are brick, with decorations that make you feel like you’re in Italy. Plus, there’s no need to worry about being rushed out; Uptown Pizza (Liberty) embraces its customers and encourages them to stay and chat for as long as they like!

Third, their customer service is top-notch. They greet you with a smile and do whatever they can to make sure your experience is enjoyable. In fact, I think I’ve seen some of the same staff members over the years – so that must be a good sign!

#10 Pizza Joe’s

I visited the restaurant on a busy afternoon and was immediately impressed by the friendly and helpful staff. The atmosphere was clean and inviting. I ordered a classic pepperoni pizza and it did not disappoint. The crust was nice and crispy, the pepperoni was savory, and the cheese melted perfectly in my mouth!

As I savored every bite of this delicious pizza, I couldn’t help but be amazed by how fresh everything tasted. The flavors were bold, but not overwhelming – perfect for any pizza lover!

Overall, Pizza Joe’s is definitely one of the best places to get a slice of pizza in Youngstown OH. If you’re ever in town and need some delicious Italian-style food, then look no further than Pizza Joe’s!

#11 Southgate Pizza

The crust is perfectly crunchy and the sauce is the perfect blend of sweet and savory. You can tell that the chefs here definitely know what they’re doing. The toppings are fresh and plentiful so you get a great bite every time.

The prices are pretty reasonable, too – especially for such high quality!

Unfortunately, Southgate Pizza doesn’t offer delivery service, so you have to go there if you want to enjoy their delicious pies. But that’s no problem at all – it’s located in a great part of town with plenty of parking. (Plus, I hear it’s an old favorite haunt of locals.)

All in all, this place has live up to its reputation as having some of the best pizza in Youngstown OH. If you get a chance to check it out, don’t hesitate – you won’t be disappointed!

#12 Scarsella’s Restaurant

When I stepped in, the ambiance was cozy, and the wood-fired oven gave off a welcoming smell. The restaurant staff were friendly and helpful in guiding me to make my selection.

I chose the cheese pizza, and I was not disappointed! The crust was thin but had plenty of texture to it, while the sauce had just enough flavor without being overwhelming. Of course, the cheese blend was spectacular; they definitely didn’t scrimp on portions here!

But what really made my experience at Scarsella’s Restaurant stand out from other pizzerias I’ve tried was the presentation. Every slice was lovingly arranged with fresh basil leaves on top for an added burst of flavor.

Scarsella’s is simply the best pizza in Youngstown OH – one bite will have you convinced that you’ve found a hidden gem!
