The first thing I noticed was the incredible smell. As soon as you walk in, the aroma of fresh pizza oozes out of their brick ovens, and it’s simply amazing. Then there’s the cheese – oh man, this stuff is like heaven! It’s incredibly creamy, with a nice hint of smokiness that cuts through all the other flavors.
But what really completed this experience for me was the topping selection. They have everything from classic pepperoni to more modern creations like BBQ chicken or artichoke hearts (yum!). You can even get great veggie-friendly options too – so everyone can find something they love here.

My favorite part of OneSpeed was their pizza. They make a classic Margherita that I can’t get enough of! The crust was light and crisp while the sauce was traditional yet flavorful.
Unfortunately, it looks like I’ll just have to eat my pizza in-house. OneSpeed unfortunately doesn’t offer delivery service. But based on how delicious their Margherita is, it’s worth the extra effort to come visit them in person!

Best Deep Dish Pizza – Chicago Fire
- Has insanely good dessert
- Great place to watch sports
- Serves alcohol (and hard liquor!)
- Nice tourist spot
From the moment I walked into Chicago Fire, I could feel the pizza gods smiling down upon me. The aroma of freshly baked dough filled the air, causing my taste buds to dance with anticipation. But let’s be honest here, folks. Deep dish pizza is no joke. It’s like a delicious, gooey mountain of cheese, sauce, and toppings. And Chicago Fire has truly mastered the art.
As I took my first bite into their famous deep dish pizza, I couldn’t help but let out a chimera-like roar of pleasure. The crust was perfectly crispy on the outside, yet fluffy and buttery on the inside, just like a unicorn’s mane. The toppings were abundant, with a symphony of flavors hitting my palate with every bite. And let’s not forget about the gooey, oozing mozzarella cheese that stretched like a slinky of deliciousness.
The presentation was also worth a standing ovation. The pizza was so thick and loaded with toppings that it looked like a skyscraper made entirely out of cheese and tomato sauce. It was a sight to behold, and oh boy, did it taste even better than it looked!
I’ve had my fair share of deep dish pizzas in my globetrotting adventures, but Chicago Fire truly takes the cake (or rather, the pizza). So if you’re in Sacramento and craving a pizza experience that will make your taste buds do the Macarena, head on over to Chicago Fire. You won’t be disappointed.
Best Thin Crust Pizza – Giovanni’s Old World New York Pizzeria
- Offers dessert
- Serves alcohol
- Has some vegetarian options
- Great place to watch sports
First of all, let’s talk about the ambiance. As soon as you walk into Giovanni’s, you’re transported to the bustling streets of New York City. The red and white checkered tablecloths, the photos of famous New York landmarks on the walls, and the occasional Italian opera music playing in the background create an authentic, ahh-fuhgeddaboudit kind of vibe.
Now, let’s get to the star of the show – the pizza. Oh boy, where do I begin? The thin crust is like a crispy little carpet of heaven, perfectly charred around the edges. Each bite is a symphony of flavors dancing on your taste buds. The tomato sauce is tangy, the cheese is gooey, and the toppings are so fresh you’d think they were just plucked from the garden.
But here’s the real secret to Giovanni’s pizza magic – they put a sprinkle of pure joy in every box. Seriously, it’s like they have a wizard in the kitchen casting spells on the dough. Maybe it’s not just tomato sauce they spread on that crust, but pure magic.
And the staff? They’re an absolute riot. The waiters are all characters straight out of a Martin Scorsese movie. They’ll crack a joke, give you a friendly pat on the back, and make you feel like you’re part of the family. Just be careful not to ask them what they think of Chicago-style pizza. That’s a one-way ticket to starting a pizza war.
Overall, if you’re in Sacramento and craving the best thin crust pizza the city has to offer, Giovanni’s should be your go-to spot. Just remember to leave your diet at the door, because once you taste their pizza, you won’t be able to resist the temptation of going back for more.
Best Wood Fired Pizza – Federalist PIZZA

- Has some vegetarian options
- Nice tourist spot
Picture this: I stroll into Federalist PIZZA, and immediately my senses are overwhelmed with the tantalizing aroma of freshly baked goodness. It’s like I’ve entered pizza heaven, or should I say, pizza nirvana (if there is such a thing). The wood-fired oven is the heart and soul of this joint, and boy, does it deliver!
As a self-proclaimed pizza aficionado, I couldn’t resist trying their signature pie, The Federalist. With a perfectly charred crust that is simultaneously crispy and chewy, it was love at first bite. The toppings, oh the toppings! They have a remarkable selection, from classic mozzarella and basil to gourmet options like prosciutto and arugula. Every bite was like a flavor symphony in my mouth, with each ingredient dancing in harmonious pizza bliss.
And let’s not forget about the atmosphere! The quirky décor, with its mismatched chairs and vintage posters, adds to the charm of this pizza paradise. The staff is friendly and energetic, making you feel like you’re part of the Federalist family. Plus, the pizza is served on rustic wooden boards, making it Instagram-worthy (and we all know that’s the most important part of dining out these days).
So, if you find yourself in Sacramento and crave wood-fired perfection, do yourself a favor and head straight to Federalist PIZZA. Just be prepared for a flavor explosion that may leave you with an insatiable pizza addiction. But hey, there are worse problems to have, right?
