I’m no stranger to pizza, having had some of the most delicious varieties all around the world – from Sicily, to Chicago, to Naples. But coming across these dozen pizza places in Athens OH was a real surprise! With great reviews and word of mouth on each one, I just had to find out which place produced the best pie.

So I set off to sample all twelve pizzerias and taste-test for myself. It was daunting but I was ready for the challenge! After much deliberation and eating plenty of pizza, I can confidently report which pizzeria stands head and shoulders above the rest.

#1 Mitzi Lous

The atmosphere of this pizza place is nothing short of amazing. The decor and vibe are cozy, with lots of checkered tablecloths and vintage-looking furnishings. The staff is friendly and welcoming, making sure you feel right at home as soon as you walk in the door.

When I tasted their pizza, my taste buds were in Heaven! Each slice was perfectly cooked, with a thin yet crispy crust that held all the delicious ingredients together. The mozzarella cheese had melted to perfection and the toppings were full of flavor. According to the pizza maker, each one is made with ingredients sourced locally from around Athens OH, adding to the authentic flavor.

The pizzas here don’t skimp on the toppings. Every slice is loaded with all the flavors you could want, with generous portions of sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, and more! The crust is crispy yet chewy in just the right way and the sauce has just enough zest to keep things interesting without overwhelming your taste buds.

But I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention their excellent dessert pizza. It’s a sweet treat that comes complete with chocolate chips and other goodies. Talk about a decadent indulgence!

The staff at Avalanche Pizza are friendly as can be, which makes it all the more enjoyable when going there. You’ll definitely want to get there early as they tend to fill up quickly given how delicious their pies are.

When I arrived, the first thing that struck me was the smell: an intoxicating aroma of freshly baked dough and herbs. The second thing that stood out was the friendly, local atmosphere; it felt like I had stepped into a family-owned pizzeria right out of a movie!

The menu at Avalanche Pizza – Slice House is vast and varied. From traditional recipes like Margherita and quattro formaggi to more creative combinations like smoked brisket and blueberry BBQ, they have something for everyone. Not to mention the specialty slices they offer daily, which keep things interesting.

Of course, what’s the point of a great menu without great pizza? Fortunately, there’s no need to worry here! Every bite of their pizza was packed with flavor and texture – from their bubbling cheese to their slightly charred crusts. Even better, their sauces are made in house from garden-fresh ingredients.

To top it all off, Avalanche Pizza – Slice House kept me entertained with music from classic artists like Journey and Queen. Can’t forget that part!

#4 Mama Renie’s Pizza

When I arrived at Mama Renie’s Pizza, the atmosphere was amazing. The walls were covered with murals of Italian scenes and the staff warmly welcomed me in. As I looked around the restaurant, I noticed a large wood-fired oven that was already hard at work which made my mouth water in anticipation.

The menu had a variety of options, both classic and new styles. After much contemplation (and a great recommendation from the waitstaff) I decided to try their signature ‘Super Supreme’ pizza. When it arrived, it was everything I expected – amazing! The crust was perfectly crisp and the toppings were fresh and flavorful and truly balanced out the tastes of each ingredient.

Of course, no meal is complete without dessert! And what better way to finish off a delicious pizza dinner than with one of Mama Renie’s world famous cannoli? My order arrived beautifully plated and delivered with grace by a smiling server. It was as good as they said it would be – sweet ricotta cream wrapped in crunchy pastry shells topped with freshly chopped pistachios; definitely worth saving room for dessert!

#5 D.P. Dough

I arrived at this restaurant with high expectations, and I was not disappointed. The pizza itself was cooked to perfection – crispy on the outside, soft and warm on the inside. The toppings were generous and flavorful, with a variety of options available.

The atmosphere at D.P. Dough was incredibly welcoming as well – who doesn’t love an Italian restaurant full of cheery banter in the background? The staff also went above and beyond to make sure that my experience was enjoyable. They even provided me with a slice of their “specialty” pizza (which I can only describe as ‘heavenly’)!

Overall, if you’re looking for the best pizza in Athens Oh, then look no further than D.P. Dough! I would rate it 8 out of 8 slices of pizza!

#6 GoodFella’s Pizza

I had a chance to visit GoodFella’s Pizza a few weeks ago and I’m very glad I did. From the moment I walked in, I knew that I was in for something special. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming – the perfect setting for an enjoyable pizza-eating experience.

To start, the menu had everything a pizza connoisseur could dream of! There were countless topping combinations to choose from and each one sounded more delicious than the next. After much deliberation, I decided on their signature creation – a four-cheese pizza loaded with pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, and olives – and it absolutely did not disappoint!

The crust was thin but still strong enough to support all of the toppings without becoming soggy. The cheese combination was perfect – savory yet light – and complemented by an explosion of flavors from all of the other ingredients.

In summary, if you are ever in Athens OH then you have to try GoodFella’s for yourself. You won’t regret it because this is definitely some of the best pizza in town.

The first thing I noticed when I stepped into Courtside Pizza was the aroma of fresh, homemade pizza that immediately grabbed my attention. The décor is simple and yet inviting, with a giant chalkboard full of specials and a few cozy tables.

When I placed my order I was delighted to find out that they use only the finest ingredients and the pizza is made fresh to order. The crust had just the right amount of crunch and the sauce was rich and flavorful. Plus, they offer more than just your ordinary toppings – everything from artichoke hearts to jalapenos!

I tried a couple of different pizzas during my experience at Courtside Pizza and every one was delicious! From the garlic and pesto combination to the classic Supreme, each slice melted in my mouth.

All in all, I think it’s safe to say that Courtside Pizza has some of the best pizza in Athens OH – if not THE best! With its friendly atmosphere and delicious food, this place is definitely worth checking out for any pizza lover!

I arrived at Donatos Pizza in Athens OH, expecting an average experience. Boy, was I wrong! From the moment I walked in the door I knew this place was something special. The aroma of delicious pizza filled the air and it whetted my appetite for a truly memorable meal.

The staff were friendly and attentive, taking time to explain all their different pizzas. After much deliberation, I settled on one of their specialties – The Classic Pepperoni Lover’s Pizza. It was simply divine! Fresh ingredients and flavorful sauces combined perfectly to create an unforgettable pizza experience. Subsequently, I repeated visits to sample all their other delicious flavors and must say that my latest visit has only confirmed my original conclusion – Donatos Pizza have some of the best pizza in Athens OH!

The crusts are crisp yet light, tangy sauce and generous toppings ensure that you won’t be left feeling hungry afterwards! All in all, I highly recommend Donatos Pizza for anyone looking for some seriously good pizza!

From their wide selection of toppings to their thick and doughy crusts, Plus 1 Pizza has all the makings of a quality pizza place. The atmosphere is also top-notch — they’ve got plenty of tables and booths where you can watch the pizza makers at work, as well as a jukebox with a good selection of oldies music.

I’d highly recommend stopping by Plus 1 Pizza and trying out one (or more!) of their signature pies. If you’re feeling adventurous, try out some offbeat toppings like ranch dressing, banana peppers, and Canadian bacon. Not only will you get a unique flavor experience, but they’ll also make your tastebuds do a happy dance!

Despite being busy during peak meal times, they always made sure to get the order right and would even pass out complimentary samples of their delicious desserts while they were busy in the kitchen!

The service was outstanding with friendly staff and fast delivery times, even during peak hours. They have all sorts of deals that make it easy to get just what you want while still staying within your budget.

When I walked into the restaurant I was immediately impressed by the atmosphere and friendliness of the staff. The place had a cozy, old-fashioned charm that was apparent from the moment you walked in.

The pizza itself was nothing short of amazing. The thin, crisp crust combined with creamy mozzarella cheese and fresh tomatoes were enough to make my mouth water. I opted for a classic margherita pizza, but there were plenty of other tasty options available as well.
