I’ve tasted pizza all over the world, so you can trust me when I say there are some great pizzerias in Buffalo!
From Italian to wood-fired to deep dish, I sampled twelve different pizzas places throughout Buffalo with my trusty notepad and pen ready to take notes.
I kept my review process lighthearted but thorough and judged each pie on flavor, quality of ingredients, size and price. After hours of testing, it’s time to reveal which pizza place made it onto my list for the ‘Best Pizza in Buffalo NY’.

#1 Slice of New York
- Offers dessert
When I walked in, the first thing that struck me was the delicious aroma of baking pizza. Then of course there was the mouthwatering selection of pizzas on display. From classic pepperoni pies to white pizza with artichokes and mushrooms, they had it all!
The slices were large and flavorful, with a thick but crispy crust and generous toppings. Each slice was perfection on its own – no sauce or cheese could make it any better!
I also enjoyed their unique side dishes. The garlic knots are particularly noteworthy – pillowy soft buns covered in garlic butter and sprinkled with parmesan cheese. And their “spicy flower” chicken wings have just enough kick for those who like a little heat with their food.
The atmosphere at Slice of New York is laid-back yet festive. The walls are painted in bright colors, and the music is upbeat without being intrusive. The staff here is friendly and helpful, so you will always feel welcome here!
All in all, Slice of New York serves up some of the best pizza in Buffalo NY that I’ve ever tasted. Highly recommended by this professional food critic!

#2 Tuscan Pizza Crust
- Offers dessert
The first thing that struck me walking in was the incredibly warm and inviting atmosphere. The restaurant was decorated with a Tuscan theme that made me feel right at home.
The next thing I noticed was the smell in the air – mouth-watering aromas of freshly-baked pizza crust and spices.
One huge plus was watching the pizza chef stretch out the dough by hand in front of my eyes – it was kind of like a show! I must admit, I enjoyed watching him work his magic on each pie.
As for the pizza, it definitely did not disappoint! The crust was perfectly cooked and had just the right amount of crunch to it. The sauce was flavorful but not overpowering and paired very well with all the toppings. My personal favorite combination was their classic margherita – which came with fresh basil and tomatoes for an added punch of flavor.
My overall experience at Tuscan Pizza Crust could only be described as delightful! From start to finish, this has got to be one of the best pizza experiences in Buffalo NY!
#3 Lovejoy Pizzeria
This family-owned Italian restaurant has been around for over 30 years and it’s easy to see why. The pizza here is so delicious it literally melts in your mouth! Everything from the thin and crispy crust to the savory sauce is spot on. In addition, they offer a variety of toppings – my favorite being homemade sausage infused with herbs, garlic and fennel seeds.
But that’s not all they have to offer. Lovejoy Pizzeria takes pride in their homemade calzones and stromboli, too. The ample portions of cheese and sauce inside the dough, combined with their expertly seasoned meats, makes these dishes a must-try!
Lovejoy also has an extensive selection of craft beers on tap – perfect for washing down all that pizza goodness! And lest I forget, if you still have room after your meal (which I doubt!) you won’t want to miss out on their homemade cannolis.
I’m always looking for the best pizza places when I travel and in Buffalo NY, you can be sure Lovejoy Pizzeria will make my list of top picks every time!
#4 Bailey N Doat Pizzeria
Upon entering the restaurant, I was immediately greeted by the inviting aromas of freshly baked dough and melted cheese. I took my seat at a cozy booth near the open kitchen where I could watch in awe as the pizza chefs expertly crafted each pie with care.
The menu is filled with creative pizza combinations such as BBQ Bacon Onion Pizza and Margarita Pesto Pizza. After much deliberation, I finally chose the Prosciutto & Roasted Pear Pizza. When it arrived to my table, I knew that this was going to be one delicious experience!
The crust was light and fluffy, which provided an ideal base for all of the amazing flavors that were coming together in every bite. The prosciutto and roasted pear were just heavenly when combined with gooey mozzarella and a light yet flavorful pesto sauce.
I finished off my meal with a dessert pizza because why not? The Nutella Dessert Pizza was utterly mouthwatering – chocolate hazelnut spread topped with juicy strawberries and drizzled with honey. It was truly an unforgettable experience!

The atmosphere of this place is just fantastic – it’s cozy and has a great vibe. The walls are painted with murals of Italian scenes, and wooden tables filled the room. Everyone was in a lively mood, chatting away and enjoying their meal.

Of course, the food is what really matters. I can confidently say that Imperial Pizza serves up some seriously delicious pizza! The crust was thin yet crunchy; they weren’t stingy with the cheese or toppings either! Every bite was packed with flavour from the rich tomato sauce to the tender vegetables.
I would definitely recommend Imperial Pizza for anyone looking for a great slice of pizza in Buffalo NY!
#8 Mineo’s South Pizzeria
- Nice tourist spot
I’ve had some phenomenal pizza in my time, from Italy to Thailand, but nothing compared to the deliciousness of Mineo’s. The crust is grilled perfectly and topped with a blend of fresh cheeses and the finest ingredients – the combination is truly delightful.
I particularly enjoyed their specialty pies like the Meat Lover’s Pie, Buffalo Chicken Pie and White Spinach Pie – all of which I highly recommend. All of the pizzas are made to order, so you never have to worry about anything drying out or getting cold! Perhaps most importantly though, there was no shortage of cheese on any of our pies – it was definitely not skimped on!
The atmosphere at Mineo’s was also top-notch, with friendly staff and an airy dining room with plenty of natural light filtering in through the windows. Overall, I could hardly ask for better pizza than what I found here in Buffalo. If you’re looking for great pizza in the area, Mineo’s South Pizzeria should be your first stop. In addition to great pizza, Wise Guys also had some incredible sides. The garlic bread was my personal favorite; it was cooked just right so that it wasn’t greasy or oily but still had an amazing crispy texture. And the big salads were incredibly fresh too – definitely surprising for a pizza joint!

- Nice tourist spot
The atmosphere at Gino’s NY Pizza is like stepping into a little slice of Italian Heaven. The walls are adorned with Italian trinkets, the staff is friendly and attentive, and the pizza… well, it just might be the best I’ve ever tasted!

From the moment I stepped into this place I knew it was special. The atmosphere is inviting and cozy, with a great selection of craft beers to accompany whatever delicious slice you order.
I started off with one of their legendary Sicilian slices. The crust was thin and crunchy, the cheese was melted like a dream, and the sauce had just enough sweetness to make my mouth water.
The real star however, comes out when you order one of their classic New York-style pizzas. They have perfected this style of pizza to a point where it’s almost impossible not to like it no matter what your taste buds are telling you. The crust is so airy and flavorful, while still maintaining that perfect chewy texture that I look for in an authentic New York-style pie. And don’t even get me started on the toppings! The staff are friendly and welcoming, making sure that each order is made quickly and correctly. The restaurant itself is clean and well kept.
When it comes to the food, Ricottas takes pizza very seriously. The crusts are thin yet slightly crunchy and the toppings are delicious! The marinara sauce is fragrant with herbs and the cheese melts perfectly every time.
Ricotta’s secret weapon is their house-made sausage which adds a blast of flavor to any pizza combination. One of my favorite pies from Ricotta’s is the Meat Lover’s Delight, which features pepperoni, sausage, meatballs, bacon bits, and red peppers. It’s definitely worth ordering!
To top it all off, I especially like that Ricotta’s serves beer on tap in addition to other tasty beverages.

Best Deep Dish Pizza – JJs Casa Di Pizza
- Offers dessert
- Serves alcohol (and hard liquor!)
- Great place to watch sports
- Has some vegetarian options
- Nice tourist spot
Let’s start with the ambiance. As soon as I walked into JJs Casa Di Pizza, I felt like I had been transported to a pizza lover’s paradise. The walls are adorned with pictures of happy customers devouring their delicious, cheesy creations. There’s even a mural of a pizza tossing competition, because apparently, they take their craft seriously here.
Now let’s talk about the pizza itself. Oh boy, where do I begin? The crust is a perfect balance of crispy and doughy, like biting into a cloud made of pizza heaven. The cheese? Oh, don’t get me started! It’s so melted and gooey that it practically creates its own gravitational pull. I half-expected my slice to float away on a sea of cheesy goodness.

Best Thin Crust Pizza – Joe’s New York Style Pizza
- Has some vegetarian options
- Offers dessert
- Nice tourist spot
- Does not accept reservations
Let me start by saying that this place is a tourist spot, which means two things: 1) you’ll have to wait in line, and 2) you’ll probably have to elbow your way through throngs of selfie-stick-wielding tourists. But trust me when I say it’s worth it – just make sure you wear your stretchy pants!
Now, being a traveling food critic and a self-proclaimed pizza connoisseur, I appreciate a restaurant that understands the importance of offering vegetarian options. Joe’s does just that, with a selection of mouthwatering veggie toppings that will make even the most carnivorous among us drool with envy.
And when you think you can’t fit another slice into your expanding belly, Joe’s surprises you with their dessert selection. From creamy tiramisu to decadent cannoli, they’ve got everything you need to satisfy your sweet tooth and induce a food coma.
Now, I have one gripe with this place, and it’s a big one (well, not as big as my pizza-induced belly, but still): Joe’s does not accept reservations. So be prepared to channel your inner ninja and snatch any available table, or be stuck waiting in line with growling stomachs and increasingly impatient fellow pizza lovers.
All in all, Joe’s New York Style Pizza is a must-visit for thin crust pizza enthusiasts in Buffalo. Just remember to take your sense of humor, your appetite, and a pair of elbows to make the most out of this delicious and chaotic experience!
Best Wood Fired Pizza – Brick Oven Bistro
- Has insanely good dessert
- Serves alcohol
- Nice tourist spot
- No delivery
But before I dive into the deliciousness, let’s talk about the downsides. Firstly, this place doesn’t offer delivery. Now, I’m not one to complain about having to put on pants to get my pizza, but it can be a bummer when I’m feeling particularly lazy.
However, once I step foot into this quaint little joint, I forget all about the delivery mishap. Why? Because they serve alcohol, my friends! As a traveling food critic, I truly appreciate when a pizza joint understands the need for a cold drink to accompany my cheesy feast.
Now, let’s talk about the main event – the pizza! Brick Oven Bistro definitely knows their way around a wood fire. The crust is perfectly charred and crispy, while the toppings are fresh and flavorful. It’s like a party in my mouth, and everyone’s invited!
But here’s the real clincher – their insanely good desserts. Oh my sweet tooth, I can never resist their homemade tiramisu or their gooey chocolate lava cake. Who needs a post-pizza nap when you have desserts like these to keep you energized?
And if all that wasn’t enough, Brick Oven Bistro is also a nice tourist spot. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, making it the perfect place to unwind after a day of exploring Buffalo.
So, if you’re in the mood for some seriously tasty wood fired pizza, accompanied by drinks and divine desserts, make your way to Brick Oven Bistro. Just make sure you put on your stretchy pants beforehand!
