Recently, I had the pleasure of trying 12 different pizza places around Hamden. Some of them blew me away, while others were so-so and not worth mentioning. But here I am – still writing about it! The atmosphere in the restaurant was the perfect balance of vintage and modern. You can tell a lot of thought has been put into making it inviting and cozy, with the retro decor, soft lighting, and comfortable seating.
The pizza itself was amazing! Their signature Olde World Apizza Supreme had a delicious hand-tossed crust that was flavorful and crisp. The toppings were so fresh, juicy and full of flavor—I think I could taste every single ingredient!
Their prices are also surprisingly affordable for such high quality pizza. Plus, they have specials all week long so you can save even more money.

The ingredients are top-notch, the crust is perfectly charred and so delicious that it will have you wanting more. I had the pepperoni pizza and it was out of this world! It was loaded with gooey cheese, flavorful pepperoni, and a perfect balance of sauce and spices.
I also highly recommend the garlic bread as an appetizer – it is light, fluffy and full of garlic goodness. Be sure to bring your appetite for this one!
The atmosphere inside Mangia Apizza is warm, inviting and family-friendly. The staff is friendly and attentive which just adds to the whole pizza experience.

I had the honor of being invited to sample some of Sergio’s delicious offerings and I must say, they did not disappoint. The crust was perfectly crisp yet still had a great chewiness. Toppings were so fresh and flavorful I didn’t even need extra sauce! The quality was top notch.
The atmosphere of the restaurant was great as well. It was cozy and inviting with a classic Italian feel. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable about the menu, answering our questions before we had a chance to ask them!

From the moment you walk in, you are taken aback by how authentic the atmosphere is. It’s like a mini-Italy right there in Connecticut! The wait staff is friendly and attentive and make sure that your experience at this wonderful establishment is top notch.
Now on to the pizza – OH MY GOODNESS! Every bite was an explosion of flavor. And they don’t skimp on toppings either; my pepperoni pizza was loaded with fresh ingredients. Their crust is also perfection – it has just the right amount of crunch and its layers are packed with robust flavors.
I may have found some great pizza around the world, but Sapori D’Italia has won me over as being THE best pizza in Hamden CT! I know for a fact that I will be returning whenever I’m in town, and highly recommend it to anyone looking for an incredibly tasty slice (or two)!

From the moment I stepped in the door, I could smell the delicious aroma of fresh-baked dough, topped with zesty marinara and melted cheese. The menu is filled with options that ranged from classic to unique. After much deliberation, I decided on a combination pizza loaded with pepperoni, sausage, olives, peppers and onions.
The pizza was perfection – a crispy crust that was both chewy and crunchy at the same time, topped with flavorful toppings in generous portions. It was cooked to perfection and had great flavor throughout.

The atmosphere at Odie’s Place was great – not only did they have all the sports playing on the TVs, I could enjoy a beer or a hard liquor while I chowed down. Plus, they had a selection of desserts that make it the perfect place to spend an evening with friends.
My favorite part of Odie’s Place has to be their incredible pizza. The dough was perfectly cooked, and the cheese was delicious. But what really made it stand out was the sauce – it just had this unique flavor that left me wanting more!
The only downside is that they don’t offer delivery, but if you’re in Hamden CT and looking for some of the best pizza around, then Odie’s Place is definitely worth making a trip for!
#10 Mama Rosa’s Pizza

I don’t know if it’s the quality of the ingredients or the experienced pizza makers in the kitchen, but this pizza is truly something special. The dough is perfectly cooked with a light and crispy crust. The sauce is flavorful and zesty, and the toppings are always fresh. Every bite was an absolute delight!
The atmosphere of Mama Rosa’s reminded me of a traditional Italian pizzeria; it was cozy, friendly and welcoming. As I ate my pizza, I noticed that all of my fellow diners had smiles on their faces – that told me they were also enjoying their meals!
Not only was the pizza impeccable, but so too were the service and hospitality from the staff at Mama Rosa’s. Each one greeted us warmly as we arrived and made sure we were comfortable before taking our orders. They checked on us throughout our meal to make sure everything was satisfactory.
Overall, I can honestly say that Mama Rosa’s Pizza is the best pizza in Hamden CT – you won’t be disappointed!
#11 Inferno Apizza

I’ve tasted a lot of great pizzas in my travels, but Inferno Apizza really takes the cake. From the moment I walked in, I knew this place was something special. It’s got a rustic, old-world charm that you can’t quite find anywhere else.
The menu had a variety of different pizzas to choose from, and all of them were delicious! I was especially impressed with their speciality pies which used some unique ingredients to create truly memorable flavors.
Service was also top-notch here: the staff were friendly and helpful, and clearly knowledgeable about their product. They took the time to make sure my pizza was to perfection by carefully managing the temperature and cooking times for the perfect crust.
To top it off, they had some wonderful craft beers on tap that went perfectly with my pizza – definitely worth trying if you’re visiting! All in all, I highly recommend Inferno Apizza as one of the best places to get pizza in Hamden CT!
#12 Di Matteo’s Pizza & Restaurant

The atmosphere of the restaurant was absolutely delightful. The decor featured classic Italian trinkets, such as terracotta pots and colorful ceramic plates, which added to the ambiance. It made it feel like I was in an authentic Italian pizzeria!
The service was very friendly and helpful. My server even suggested a few of their specialty dishes that I hadn’t tried before – what a nice touch! He also gave me plenty of information about the restaurant and its menu, which I found invaluable during my visit.
Now for the pizza – wow! First of all, their crust is incredibly thin and crispy – it’s definitely worth noting that this is not your average run-of-the-mill pizza crust! The toppings were equally impressive; they had a wide selection of fresh vegetables and meats to choose from. I opted for their four cheese pizza which was filled with gooey mozzarella, ricotta, Parmesan, and Romano cheeses – delicious!
